A brand new Quinnipiac Poll (literally. It was released a couple minutes ago) shows Barack Obama holding a 50% - 41% lead over his Republican counterpart John McCain. This according to a nationwide poll of likely voters which was comprised over a three day span, July 10th through 13th. The internals of this poll however are almost, if not altogether, more intriguing then the actual surface number, which has Obama up by 9 points.
Is Colorado the New Ohio? How the Rocky Mountain Swing State Could Decide the Election
July 14, 2008
There has been a lot of talk regarding the electoral map “swing states” as of late. A particular focus has been put on Ohio, Michigan, Florida, Pennsylvania and Missouri all states where the current polls are close, but reflect similar numbers at this time back in 2000 and 2004. That is why electoral experts have begun to believe that Colorado will ultimately decide the 2008 election - and this is not an assertion that should be taken lightly either. Those arguing that Colorado is very likely in deciding the ‘08 election have quite a compelling argument on their side - one that makes more and more sense as each day passes, and state polls are released.
Obama Camp Contemplates Sponsoring a NASCAR in the Sprint Cup Series
July 11, 2008
JOLIET, IL - NASCAR’s BAM Racing team has presented Barack Obama’s presidential campaign with a potential sponsorship deal in the Sprint Cup series later this year, but it doesn’t look like an Obama car will be burning rubber on the track anytime soon.
BAM team spokesman Rhett Vandiver told The Associated Press on Friday that the team made a sponsorship proposal to the Democratic presidential hopefuls campaign, and has made similar proposals to the campaign of Republican John McCain and at least one third-party candidate. Late Friday, the Obama campaign said there would be no sponsorship.
“The Obama campaign will not be sponsoring a car in the Sprint Cup series, though we will continue to look for ways to reach out to voters and convey Senator Obama’s message of change.” said Bill Burton, an Obama campaign spokesman
Sports Illustrated first reported the proposal on its Web site, saying Obama’s campaign is in talks with BAM, a part-time operation that hasn’t raced in recent weeks, to sponsor its No. 49 car in the Aug. 3 race at Pocono.
It would have been a fairly bold move within a sport whose competitors spend all year turning left on the track but tend to lean to the right politically.
BAM’s choice of drivers and car brands might have been a little too sticky politically for the Obama camp.
The car, a Toyota, the only foreign automaker racing in NASCAR, would be driven by veteran Ken Schrader.
According to the Federal Election Commission’s Web site, Schrader gave $1,000 to the campaign of North Carolina Republican congressman Robin Hayes in June 2004, and a total of $2,500 in 2003 and 2004 to the failed Virginia congressional campaign of Republican Kevin Triplett, a former NASCAR official.
Also according to the FEC, Mrs. Ann Schrader of Concord, N.C. and Ken Schrader Racing donated a total of $2,000 to President Bush’s campaign in May 2004 and $900 to the North Carolina Republican Executive Committee in August 2004.
NASCAR has been playing an increasing role in politics, as so-called “NASCAR dads” were considered a key constituency in recent elections.
A Cup series car carried a George W. Bush logo in 2004 but wasn’t officially associated with the campaign. And Democratic presidential hopeful Bob Graham sponsored a truck in the Craftsman Truck Series in 2003.

So today we are going to look at 10 states that George W. Bush won back in 2004, but have Barack Obama in the lead today:
Feel Free to Add “Bloggers” to the Long List of Things McCain Hates
July 6, 2008
Oh how I love when John McCain speaks, he never fails in providing us with some humorous gaffe, comparison, or illustration of bad judgment. Here is a video clip which has McCain speaking to a group in a “town hall” type setting. I believe it took place in New Hampshire (according to the video information) but in all reality the location is meaningless here - it’s what he says that makes the video worth watching.
Obama Supports Roe v. Wade - But “Cannot Support Late Term Abortions”
July 4, 2008
WASHINGTON - Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama says “mental distress” should not qualify as a justification for late-term abortions, a key distinction not embraced by many supporters of abortion rights. In an interview this week with “Relevant,” a Christian magazine, Obama said prohibitions on late-term abortions must contain “a strict, well defined exception for the health of the mother.”
Michael Dukakis - Yes, Dukakis - Takes This Conservative to School…
July 4, 2008
All I have to say about this video clip is, “where the hell was this version of Michale Dukakis when he was running for the Presidency?” Watch as Sean Hannity’s “fill in”, Michael Steele, gets absolutely shredded by none other then 1988 Democratic Presidential nominee Michael Dukakis.
The topic is more or less centered on the “labeling” of candidates, an issue that apparently is near and dear to Michael Steele, the guy who pretty much refused to even so much as mention the fact he was a republican on his campaign website - a race that he went on to get steamrolled.
Anyways, here is the video. I think you will find yourself somewhat surprised at the verbal and intellectual smack down he manages to lay on Michael Steele:
STEELE: Well, I think it’s important. Labels mean things.
DUKAKIS: But wait a second, look at the country’s fiscal condition today. When Bill Clinton left office, we’re on our way to the elimination of the national debt. Remember?
STEELE: I do.
DUKAKIS: Now we have a national debt that is double what it was when George Bush took office and it’s going to be our kids and grandkids that will have to pay it off. What is conservative about that? Now Obama is a guy who believes you gotta pay your bills. I happen to believe you gotta pay your bills.
STEELE: Yeah, but he wants to pay‚ he wants to pay everybody else’s bills with my money!
DUKAKIS: I think that’s a rather conservative position. But don’t tell me‚ of course, it’s our money, but it’s also our Social Security, it’s also our roads
STEELE: No, its my money. It’s not our money, it’s my money.
DUKAKIS: Well, it’s your money, but it’s also your country and it’s your kids and your grandkids.
STEELE: That’s right.
The Tables Have Turned: Evangelical Group Running New Ad Endorsing Obama
July 2, 2008
My oh my have the tables turned since 2000 and 2004 when Democrats couldn’t get the religious vote for the life of them. Matthew 25 is a Christian Network comprised of Catholic, Protestant, Pentecostal and Evangelical - who according to their website, are “inspired by the Gospel” to get involved in politics in order to hopefully create a positive wave of social change.
