McCain Accepts Backing of Controversial Evangelical Leader

Well if you haven’t heard the rampant increase in attacks of Sen. Barack Obama then chances are you have been living under a rock for the last two weeks. The neo-conservative base have been firing out accusations that one of Obama’s past church leaders had also made controversial statements which were quite anti-semitic, there is no argument there, he did and Obama subsequently distanced himself from the institution. Now, these same people are in the middle of blindly characterizing Obama in the same ideological category as Louis Farrakhan, even though Obama has denounced Farrakhan so many times that it now sounds repetitive. More or less Obama has been scrutinized more then any other candidate in questions pertaining to his religion, which is comical really when you look at his records of religious affiliations. So basically I think it is someone else’s turn to be placed under the religious microscope and the timing seems to be working out just perfectly:

Senator John McCain got support on Wednesday from an important corner of evangelical Texas when the pastor of a San Antonio mega-church, Rev. John C. Hagee, endorsed Mr. McCain for president. Mr. Hagee, who argues that the United States must join Israel in a preemptive, biblically prophesized military strike against Iran that will lead to the second coming of Christ, praised Mr. McCain for his pro-Israel views.

So how did McCain react to the endorsement of Rev. John C. Hagee, a religious zealot who is by all measures equally demented in his teachings as Louis Farrakhan is. Let’s just say McCain did not denounce Hagee, as Obama did when receiving the Farrakhan endorsement, instead McCain said he was “very honored” by the endorsement. Politicati raises a very interesting and appropriate question regarding this situation:

Do you think the mainstream media will go after McCain for this equally poor endorsement? I mean, not only has this nutjob endorsed McCain but McCain is very honored by it! When given the opportunity to denounce and reject Hagee’s crazy ramblings about bombing Iran to bring Jesus back, McCain just continued to say how honored he was. The mainstream media will definitely spend 10 minutes on that one in the next debate, right?

He is 100% correct in this observation. This is yet another example of the extreme double standard that has emerged in our political system, one which allows the republicans to hold the democrats to a set of standards that they are constantly contradicting. Obama gets endorsed by a whack-o and denounces the support, who cares, attack him any way. McCain gets the endorsement by an equally twisted religious figure, accepts it with open arms, and receives a virtual pass on it all together. Bill Moyers, a public television journalist, says of Hagee:

Someone who didn’t know better could imagine from the very name Christians United For Israel - CUFI -that pastor John Hagee speaks for all Christians. Well, he doesn’t. Like other faiths, Christians are a motley lot. For example, the last time I checked there were at least 27 varieties of Baptists in America, and I can tell you from first hand knowledge, Baptists differ profoundly in how we read the Bible, how we read history, and how we read election returns. Evangelicals come in hundreds of sizes and shapes, and CUFI is just one of the legions of conservative Christian organizations.

But I guess this is OK in the eyes of the main stream media. However imagine if this was flipped around, and Obama “openly accepted” the endorsement of a enormous Islamic figure head, –I know he does not practice Islam, this is for argument sake only– who publicly called for the desecration of Israel by the hands of Arabs. Now do you think that Obama would get a pass, you know, like the one McCain is currently riding. I think not, but I guess that’s the difference in the American media between receiving the endorsement of a radical white religious figure, opposed to extreme religious figure who may be “other” colored. As a little bonus I have included a video clip which sheds a little light Hagee, his beliefs, and past political allies (Tom DeLay included). Please watch the video, it is absolutely jaw dropping. And who are we kidding, we both know you would already be halfway through with it if was pertaining to Obama.

Dear Concerned Citizen:

The past several years we have seen John McCain reflect his deep convictions and fight steadfastly for his causes.

We have heard the John McCain Straight Talk. We have seen John McCain reflect his compassion by helping illegal aliens become citizens. We have seen John McCain express his anger and righteous indignation to those who opposed his cause.

But wait, what single conservative cause has John McCain championed? The fact is, he has been the champion of only Liberal causes.

Well the news media won. They choose the worst liberal candidates of both the Republican and Democratic Parties.

If the Democrats had chose a popular moderate southern governor, like Bill Clinton as in 1992, John McCain would be struggling for survival in real polls. But the international bankers knew that the mass population could not vote for a liberal black, and would have no choice but to accept John McCain.

In January of this year, James Dobson said, “Speaking as a private individual, I would not vote for John McCain under any circumstances.”

The sad part is that so called conservatives groups have caved in to the liberals and special interest groups who have given us two unwanted choices. They major in telling us how bad Obama is, but neglect to give equal time to point out the McCain record and what he has stood for.

As has been pointed out many times, a half truth is a misrepresentation of the facts, and is like lying.

Telling half truths is a clear violation of “Thou shalt not bear false witness”.

The bottom line is that many so called neo-conservative groups are in clear violation of “Thou shalt not bear false witness”, by only telling half truths. Why not tell the truth of the McCain record. Another interesting question is, how many of them pointed out that for the previous 6 years, the Republicans controlled the White House and the Congress, but yet somehow, our conservative Republican Congress could not pass a single meaningful piece of pro-life legislation, or any conservative legislation. Yet this same conservative Republican Congress passed dozens of pieces of restrictive pro-life legislation during the Clinton Administration. While Clinton vetoed them, it did pass the Congress. Why was not the recent Congress even able to introduce legislation this past 6 years.

Where are the conservative organizations who are working to stop the illegal alien invasion? Thank goodness there are a few. A follow up question is, “When John McCain becomes President, will they speak up, or will they be silent and hands off as they were to George Bush?” Will they oppose the amnesty legislation that John McCain has fought so hard for the past couple of years.

The worthless neo-conservative organizations need to be identified, not supported, and they may well go away.

They are identifying themselves right now, by carrying the liberal banner and telling conservatives to vote for John McCain.

If you are part of one of these neo-conservative organizations, how will you answer during the day of God’s Judgment seat, when asked why did you tell half truths and violate the Commandment “Thou shalt not bear false witness”. Why did you false betray your principles and urge conservatives into following and voting for a proven liberal like John McCain?

A true conservative has a clear conscience, and does not have a major compromise of principle.

Do you have a clear conscious, or have you violated your basic moral principles?

As a delegate to our state convention this coming weekend we have a solemn obligation to know the truth about the man who has been anointed the “presumptive nominee” of our party. Our job is not to be a rubber stamp for anyone else’s agenda, no matter how “nobly” the cause is presented. The Republican establishment in Maine is counting on us not having the documented information on this sheet. It is counting on our willingness to be told what to think in the same way that the mainstream media has been telling us what to think throughout this entire election cycle. We are expected to suspend any other concerns we may have in the name of “party unity.”

The truth is that a patriot who loves his country makes it an ultimate priority to be well-educated about the decisions he or she must make. Unless we have come to understand how dominated by the leftist military-industrial complex America’s major media has become, and done some research, we are not prepared to do our duty at the convention.

This letter, supported by many delegates to the Republican Convention, is literally about saving the party and the nation from a maniacal neoconservative war monger, who supports a United States presence in Iraq for 100 years, and who is not really even a Republican!

“War hero” image is a media creation not supported by the facts

McCain graduated 894th of the 899 cadets in his class at the Naval Academy. Google it. Why would we want someone who was a failure and took his responsibilities so flippantly as our commander-in-chief?

* McCain was an irresponsible pilot who crashed 6 planes, and started a major fire on an aircraft carrier through negligent action. Why would we want someone this reckless in the most-important office on the planet?

* McCain collaborated with the enemy, was given “soft” treatment because his father was an admiral, and is known as “Songbird McCain” by those who were imprisoned with him. (http://vietnamveteransagainstmccain.com) He is the MIA/POW family’s worst enemy for his constant attempts to belittle their concerns and stifle their inquiries while serving in the Senate.

McCain ditched his ill wife to marry an heiress when he returned from Vietnam

Is this the type of morality we Republicans condone? Is this type of heinous lack of loyalty we want in a President? He also has a track record of shocking verbal abuse, including screaming profanities against his Senate Republican colleagues. Senator Thad Cochran, MS, says “The thought of his being President sends a cold chill down my spine.” Other Senators relate times when McCain screamed four-letter obscenities right in their faces in the Senate cloak room, like Dick Shelby, Rick Santorum or Jim Imhofe. “The man is unhinged,” one senator said. “He is frighteningly unfit to be commander-in-chief.”

The truth is, John McCain is not even a Republican. He is a phony stalking horse who is a liberal in disguise. He not only can’t win this fall because he is so out of step with the majority of Americans and with the principled stands of Republicanism, but if we support this person for our nominee, he will likely destroy our party. Consider:

* He was intimately involved in the “Keating 5” Savings & Loan scandal.

* He has been endorsed by the liberal/leftist New York Times.

* He is a big advocate of the extreme “green” global warming scare, and the economically horrific “solutions” being proposed by people like Al Gore.

* He has promoted illegal amnesty for millions of illegal aliens.

* His McCain-Feingold Bill has destroyed much of the rights of people to take part in the political process the way they see fit. This bill remains un-Constitutional and a major affront to the First Amendment protections on the right of free speech.

* He is a big-time gun grabber who is an extreme advocate of restrictions on 2nd Amendment rights.

* He opposes repeal of Roe v. Wade, and opposes a Constitutional amendment to protect all life.

* He is no fiscal conservative, and he supports raising taxes on Social Security benefits.

* He continues his aggressive support for the Iraq War, which costs the U.S. taxpayer $12 billion a month, even though only 34% of Americans support the war. (According to Paul Craig Roberts, Asst. Secretary of the Treasury in the Reagan Administration, and vocal opponent of the Iraq War: 4,538 Americans have died in the war, 29,780 have been wounded, 300,000 soldiers are suffering from major depression, and 320,000 received brain injuries, all as a result of this unconstitutional and immoral war.)

We will hear much about “unity” at the Maine State Convention. However, it is very important that we understand that to unify behind this man is tantamount to nominating a Democrat. We can vote our consciences or abstain from voting.

John McCain did poorly in our Maine caucuses. By most estimates he got fewer than 20% of the delegates to the State Convention coming out of our caucuses and was soundly trounced by both Romney and Texas Congressman Ron Paul. McCain did not win a single county in the straw poll, with 15 counties going to Romney and one (Aroostook) going to Dr. Paul. McCain has little support nationally…there are never huge rallies for McCain, unless people are paid to show up. In short, he is a media creation and the darling of the Trotskyite neoconservative warmongers who have hijacked our party. He does not support our own platform!

Former Romney supporters who receive this info sheet DO NOT have to follow the “uncalled for” advice of the Massachusetts governor that you go over the cliff with support for this unstable man.

DO NOT ALLOW YOURSELF OR YOUR VOTE TO BE PROSTITUTED IN THE NAME OF PARTY UNITY. PUT YOUR COUNTRY FIRST!
