Hillary Clinton Attack’s The War on Iraq

Today during one of her many stops in New Hampshire Sen. Hillary Clinton touched on a topic that up until now had, for the most part, been a non issue –the war in Iraq–. During a speech in Nahua, New Hampshire Hillary made strong statements regarding George W. Bush’s decision to invade Iraq post 9-11:

“After 9/11, I would never have taken us to war in Iraq,” she said. “I would have stayed focused on Afghanistan because the real threat was coming from there.”

This may be, however it does not explain why she then cast her vote supporting the use of force. People over at the Obama camp jumped on this instantly, and Obama spokesman Bill Burton released this statement:

“Hillary Clinton may try to rewrite history, but it’s hard to believe she didn’t know what would happen after she voted for a resolution with the title ?A Resolution to Authorize the Use of United States Armed Forces Against Iraq.? While Hillary Clinton continues to make the same kind of attacks that voters are rejecting, Barack Obama will continue telling voters about his consistent opposition to the war in Iraq from the start, and his plan to bring our troops home.”

As you can see this is a very vulnerable issue for Clinton and I cannot figure out why she would choose to bring it into the ongoing dialogue. This aside the Clinton camp is still leading in the national polls and continue to keep things in perspective:

“The race began in Iowa but it ends when Democrats across America have their say,” said David Seman with the Hillary Clinton campaign.
