Hate Speech Originating At Brent Bozell’s Website Is Out Of Control

News Busters is incredibly far right wing website funded by none other then book burner Brent Bozell of the Media Research Center (MRC). Over the past month I have highlighted examples of hate speech that had been increasingly prevalent at the News Busters website and forum. Now I understand that “free speech” is a god given right, and I respect that. However I find it startling that a group of people that publicly denigrate organizations, and outlets such as the “Dear Abby” column, under their self imposed veil of “moral authority” turn around and use some of the most hateful, racist, sexist, and downright disturbing rhetoric throughout their democrat bashing sessions. Not only is this hypocritical, but it continues to prove how “out there” these fringe elements of the Republican party truly are. Many believe, and to an extent I would agree, that the extreme right, and their hate charged beliefs are a click away from that of the radical Muslim fundamentalists we are currently at war with.
Brent Bozell is quite the character, he is both the founder and acting President of the notoriously neo-conservative Media Research Center, the parent organization of the News Busters web site. Now the hypocrisy from this guy is literally seeps out of his pores. For example, Bozell founded the Parents Television Council in 1995, initially as a branch of the Media Research Center focusing on entertainment television, after he felt that decency was declining on prime-time television programming. OK, fair enough, but then how does Bozell, whose stated mission is “to promote and restore responsibility and decency to the entertainment industry” explain the disgusting language and attacks which openly take place on the very site he funds, runs, oversees, and writes for. Take a look at some of these examples, and I challenge you to explain how in any way they promote anything more then repugnant and petty hatred:
My first example is a collection of comments from News Busters weekly “caption contest“, blatant traces of racism and a lack of decency are painfully obvious, on the very site Bozell claims to be “promoting and protecting decency“. So apparently calling Hillary a “waspy bitch“, joking about “smoking dope and screwing some asshole“, “poor white trash” and the new favorite of right wing hate mongers, “Get a rope“, refrencing a lynching (cue Bill O’Reilly), are the tools neccessarry to uphold a moral high ground. In reality they serve as just another glowing representation of what Bozell and the lunatics he panders to are really all about:
Again you see a clear pattern of racism and this time a weird sexual tone becomes visible. An odd and somewhat disturbing fixation with sex, cross dressing, rape, religion, et cetera is underwritten heavily here. I find this type of sentiment to be absolutely revolting, not because I am some hyper sensitive nit, rather it’s because I physically become ill when I am exposed to hypocrisy at this level. Below is another gaggle of Bozell’s brand of “clean, and moral,” speech:
Wow, however I want to make two things clear before I wrap this up. First, to enlarge the images, simply click on them and they will appear full sized. Second, I want to get it out in the open that I could really care less what people say or do on their blogs, and while I do not agree with them, and would not personally take part in their hypocrisy, I could care less if some right wing, ‘Elmer Fudd‘ looking, dolt wants to swear or make offensive comments. I am going to reiterate the fact I do not support those views, do not condone those views, but also do not lose a second of sleep over some moron, who cheers wars in countries he can not even locate on a world map in an attempt to impress his equally incompetent buddy. I do however take great exception to those who make these types of statements, while at the same time, pass their misogynistic, quasi-religious judgment on others for whatever reason. It’s so upsetting because they have gotten away with it for so long now, it seems to have become accepted even. For example, they attack Obama for a relationship he had in the past with a pastor who had some asinine views and opinions that were both racist, and anti American. Horrible, yes, however to hear the right lambaste him over it, while at the same time parading in and out of the “700 Club” with Pat Robertson, a man who thinks along the lines of:
“Homosexuals want to come into churches and disrupt church services and throw blood all around and try to give people AIDS and spit in the face of ministers.” (700 Club Episode, Aired on 01/18/95)“Just like what Nazi Germany did to the Jews, so liberal America is now doing to the evangelical Christians. It’s no different. It is the same thing. It is happening all over again. It is the Democratic Congress, the liberal-based media and the homosexuals who want to destroy the Christians. Wholesale abuse and discrimination and the worst bigotry direct
ed toward any group in America today. More terrible than anything suffered by any minority in history.”–Pat Robertson, 1993
I am trying to get at the notion that somewhere in between 1980 and 2008 a severe double standard has come to be. One that allows the the right too attack, blame, slander, or whatever it is they want, while at the same time receiving a virtual pass regarding their behavior. What Barack Obama’s minister may have believed or one time proclaimed is wrong, it’s as simple as that. The same goes with Pat Robertson, the man who has in bed with the right for the past 25 years, one time even running on the republican ticket, has said is wrong, they are both disgusting, hateful, and divisive teachings from men who are supposed to spread the word of the good lord. Neither one is worse then the other, and neither side deserves more of the blame. Sadly though, the right doesn’t have the ability to comprehend a “agree to disagree” stance, it’s simply not in their nature. They are bred, and love to hunt, slander and attack as their form of political weaponry, and sites like Brent Bozell’s New Busters serves as a beacon to that very notion.
