Well I would be lying if I were to site here and say that I was “surprised” too see FOX News dabbling in race baiting in a contrived attempt to pass their propaganda off as legitimate news. I am referring to the latest FOX News attack, which I would argue is one of the more blatant displays of political race baiting we have seen out in quite some time from a “mainstream media outlet.” The incident occurred during a segment discussing conservative attacks against Michelle Obama, the wife of Barack Obama, too which the network described the former as “Obama’s baby mama,” while even going out of their way to providing a graphic depicting their new nickname for Mrs. Obama, which appeared on the screen for a good portion of the segment.
Now it absolutely baffles me how FOX can continue to partake in these sickening displays of overt political smear campaigning, all the while flying under the increasingly thin veil, of being a news network - let alone their comically ironic slogan which reads, “FOX News: Fair and Balanced.”
Below you will see video of the segment at hand, and if you are anything like myself then I predict you will be quite perturbed upon viewing the sideshow of network give it’s bastardization of the “news” through the cannons of ignorance, race baiting, and sexism. (as if the sight of Michelle Malkin wasn’t enough to make your face melt.) Below the attached video you will also see a collection of opinions from a handful of pundits from both sides of the aisle regarding FOX’s latest example of character assassination.
I would like to point out really quick, that the reason this is so appalling, opposed as just looking at it as “FOX being FOX,” is because by it’s formal definition; “baby mama” means a mother out of wedlock, which clearly Michelle Obama is not - seeing as though she was married when she bore both of her daughters. So in fact this is something to take great offense too, regardless of your political affiliation, and should not, yet unfortunately will, receive nothing more then a 2 minute tongue lashing from Keith Olbermann, and two days of interest in certain sections of blog-o-sphere - only to be completely forgotten by this time next week. The same fate every other demented, and downright unacceptable action by FOX News ultimately receives.
- TPM: “The Obamas have been married for 16 years, and only to each other. John McCain left his first wife after she was in a car accident to marry an heiress 20 years younger than him. Guess whose marriage Fox News decided to insult?”
- The National Review: “No, I don’t think Fox was being “straight up racist” with their ridiculous “Obama’s Baby Mama” text. But it was a dumb, disrespectful thing to do even considering how Mrs. Obama herself has introduced her husband. But then so again was the “trophy wife” treatment of Jeri Thompson.”
- Michael Calderone of Politico.com: “In addition to being insulting, the phrase “baby mama” is also inaccurate. The Urban Dictionary defines “baby mama” as”the mother of your child(ren), whom you did not marry and with whom you are not currently involved.”
- Michelle Malkin: “whoever wrote the stupid baby mama” chyron at the beginning here, especially so soon after E.D. Hill’s terrorist fist jab” remark, is simply begging for trouble.” (is this really happening? Malkin’s even criticizing the move? Wow.)
Fox’s Senior Vice President of Programming Bill Shine has since come forward and has issued a statement regarding the “Obama’s baby mama” uproar, released minutes ago, FOX’s response on the issue is as follows :
“A producer on the program exercised poor judgment in using this chyron during the segment.”
Well if that doesn’t make everything better then I really don’t know what will. Politico.com, the outlet to witch Mr. Bill Shine initially released FOX’s “response/apology” too, has been all over this story from it’s onset, and are now reporting on some of the individuals behind the scenes at FOX, and their feelings on the decision to run with the whole “Obama’s baby mama” piece:
Although Shine doesn’t name anyone responsible, the show’s producer is Jessica Herzberg. A Fox staffer said that others internally were bothered by describing the potential first lady and very accomplished women as the senator’s “baby mama.”
Unfortunately for the network, this comes just days after Fox’s E.D. Hill addressed her use of the phrase “terrorist fist jab” on-air in reference to the famous Michelle-Barack fist bump (or pound) made just before his celebratory speech in St. Paul.
They’re really racking up the sickening attacks on the Obama family aren’t they? Anyways please feel free to offer up your opinion on the ongoing “baby mama” drama, and whether or not you think the outrage is warranted, or if you disagree with me, and feel as though the uproar is really a bunch of libs getting uppity over nothing, then please, I urge you to let me know why you ‘re right and I am wrong. I, unlike other site, actually enjoy when I receive emails or comments from individuals who disagree, but do so in an informative, and intellectual manner - opposed to juvenile name calling and threats (which are emails I also am lucky enough to receive on a daily basis.)
