Hillary Clinton has continued to pull away from rival Barack Obama of Illinois as the campaigning in Pennsylvania ended and voters prepared to cast ballots today. The latest Zogby daily poll shows that she now leads Obama, 51% to 41%, having gained three points over the past 24 hours as Obama lost one point, pushing her beyond the poll’s margin of error to create a statistically significant lead for the first time in the Pennsylvania primary in the past two and a half weeks.
- Zogby Daily Tracking Poll (April 21st, 2008)
Barack Obama- 41%
Hillary Clinton-51%
As far as national numbers go, well lets just say that they paint an entirely different picture then that of what we currently see in Pennsylvania. According to the USA TODAY/Gallup Poll Barack Obama has widened his lead nationally for the Democratic presidential nomination to 10 points as the candidates make a final push for votes in today’s Pennsylvania primary, Obama leads the survey by 50%-40% among Democrats and voters who lean Democratic. That’s a bigger edge than the 7 % point lead he held in the USA TODAY poll last month:
Barack Obama- 50%
Hillary Clinton- 40%
So while it looks like this primary is playing out as many over the past week have suggested it would, Hillary will in fact win Pennsylvania, but not with the numbers she needed too, and Barack Obama will continue to grow his national lead. What does this mean? Well, I really have no clue, and seeing how this primary has played out up until this point, I am not making any predictions either.
