In a surprising –or maybe not so much to those who knew him– declaration made during an interview with Vanity Fair’s own Phillipe Sands’, former Undersecretary of Defense Doug Feith let it be known what he thinks about the ongoing debate surrounding the United States use of torture on its detainees. Throughout the interview –which successfully illustrated what type of person Doug Feith really is– Feith boasted to that back in 2002, that he “was really a player” in ensuring that Gitmo detainees would not receive the protection which is allotted to prisoners of war stated by the Geneva Convention guidelines. However the obscenities really began to fly when Phillipe Sands’ asked him “whether, in the end, he was at all concerned that the Geneva decision might have diminished America’s moral authority,” apparently Feith didn’t like the question, for he arrogantly replied:

The problem with moral authority,” he said, was people who should know better, like yourself, siding with the assholes, to put it crudely.”

Cute Mr. Feith, real diplomatic of you. That said when judging Doug Feith it should be noted that this man was play a major hand in promoting the myth of Iraq’s ties to Al Qaeda before the invasion of Iraq, which we unfortunately all know now to be a mis truth at least, and a down right lie to get the OK for war at most. For a former member of any presidential administration to reference such a major policy dispute in the terms Feith chose to in this instance clearly shows that he is not only a bush league (no pun intended) intellectual, but downright unqualified to have any input whatsoever regarding our foreign policy initiatives. But hey, the interview speaks for itself, I don’t need to sit here and tell you what a slug Doug Feith really is.
