David Gregory To Replace Tucker’s Now Vacant Time Slot On MSNBC

Yesterday we reported that MSNBC had ultimately given Tucker Carlson and his nightly news program “Tucker” the ‘ole heave hoe from the networks television lineup. More or less, my man Tucker Carlson was flat out fired, which raised a question in itself. Who or what would be taking over “Tucker’s” coveted 6 PM ET time slot? There were early reports that Air America, and familiar political correspondent Rachel Maddow would be replacing the bow tied bandit with a program formatted much like her radio show. However that turned out to be nothing more then speculation as earlier today MSNBC announced that NBC White House correspondent David Gregory would be the front man for the new election themed show titled “Race For The White House.”

MSNBC isn’t wasting any time in getting Gregory up and running, The show will premiere on March 17th. Gregory is bye no means a rookie when it comes to playing television political commentator. In fact he has been somewhat of a “go to” guy for MSNBC, in the past Gregory has stepped up as a guest host on the “Today Show” and “Meet The Press.” Gregory also took over the timeslot left vacant by Don Imus last April, temporarily stepping in as MSNBC’s morning talent before the network began trying out different hosts in that time slot, which as we all know ultimately ended up being “Morning Joe“, my personal favorite among the AM news programs. Also, before I wrap this up, I want to let all those Tucker Carlson fans out there know that the news isn’t all bad, Carlson will remain with the network as Senior Campaign Correspondent and will continue to be sprinkled throughout the schedule as a panelist and contributor.
