Patti Solis Doyle, Hillary Rodham.Clinton’s former campaign manager and one of her closest friends has recently been in talks with Barack Obama’s top advisers discussing the possibilities of joining team Obama for the upcoming general election.

Politico.com is reporting that Doyle, who was forced out of.Hillary Clinton’s campaign in February amidst criticism about her financial tactics (which include spending and ad buys) as well as a perceived “lack of preparation” for caucuses and primaries taking place after “super Tuesday.” David Axelrod, Obama’s chief strategist told Politico.com:

I’ve talked to Patti throughout. I know that she wants to be helpful in a general election campaign, and we appreciate that,”

Several other prominent Democrats close to the Obama campaign and their conversations with Solis Doyle said that there has in fact been serious conversation regarding her going to work for Obama after the current primary officially draws to an end. Patti. Solis Doyle, a native of Chicago -Obama’s home state- whose brother is an alderman there, told Politico.com that:

If Barack Obama’s the nominee, I’ll do everything I can to get him elected.”

This trend of Clinton staff both formally, and former, jumping ship to the Obama camp once the nomination process is over will most likely include more names then Patti Solis Doyle. Bob Shrum, John Kerry’s top adviser back in 2004 talks about this political phenomenon, saying:

I expect a lot of people from the losing campaign to go to the winning campaign, and I think that’s a good idea it’s part of the process of healing. The way the Obama campaign runs, I think people will be integrated fairly easily.”

Another reason one would have to expect quite a few Hillary staffers to join up with Obama’s campaign is that Barack Obama has recently begun advertised for jobs in its communications office. Democratic operatives close to Axelrod have said he might look to hire some of Clinton’s field staffers for the general election campaign and to pick up fund raising staffers who have close connections to already functioning financial pipelines among Democrat big wigs.

While this is quite interesting in a “story line” sense, it is nothing new in the world of politics. This type of staff restructuring takes place at every level of government, every election cycle. Still, knowing what we do regarding the Clinton’s and their tendency to kneecap those who they feel were “not loyal”, the staff transfers will be enticing to watch unfold, and the consequences, or lack there of, those who abandon the Clinton camp face down the line.
