The 2008 Presidential contest between Senators Barack Obama and John McCain is officially, or as officially as a non scientific study can be, sitting amidst a virtual horse tie. Poll after poll shows this phenomena to be true, and one has to wonder why, with everything stacked in his favor, is Barack Obama unable to put any distance between him and his republican counterpart John McCain. We are going to look at the latest polls - both on a state by state basis, as well as a national perspective.
Study Shows Younger Crowd Prefers Online News, While Elders Stick with TV

NEW YORK - Fewer Americans are reading newspapers and are instead getting their news online, but television remains the leading source of news in the country, according to a survey released Sunday. Not surprisingly, younger people tend to get more of their news on the Internet, while older folks use traditional media such as television and newspapers, the Pew Research Center’s biannual survey on news consumption habits said.
Phelps Goes 7 for 7 & Is Now One Gold Medal Away From Making History

BEIJING - Michael Phelps beat Milorad Cavic of Serbia to the wall to win the 100-meter butterfly Saturday, tying Mark Spitz’s record of seven gold medals at a single Olympics.
With his arms fully outstretched, the American touched in 50.58 seconds, brreaking Cavic’s Olympic record of 50.76 set in the semifinals.
Cavic, who was still in mid-stroke at the wall, took the silver in 50.59, a mere 0.01 seconds behind Phelps. Andrew Lauterstein of Australia earned the bronze in 51.12.
It was the first race of these games in which Phelps didn’t set a world record. Crocker, the world record-holder, was fourth in 51.13. Phelps won the event four years ago in Athens, and Crocker finished second.

Earlier this evening Presidential hopefuls Barack Obama and John McCain took turns answering questions from mega church Pastor Rick Warren. The setting was Saddleback Mega Church, which is located in sunny Orange County, CA and also is one of the larger, more mainstream evangelical super centers of prayer. Both candidates are friends with Pastor Warren, the founder of the church and moderator of tonights forum, and came up with the idea of a dual candidate Q and A months ago.
McCain Reality Check… “Military Personnel Support Obama 6-1″

Some of you may have read the piece I put together yesterday regarding Republican candidate John McCain’s growing problems with military personnel, both active and retired. Well it turns out that it may be worse then even I though - and there are numbers to prove it. As this mornings papers rolled out, we began seeing headline after headline focusing on the Military and their overwhelming support for Senator Barack Obama, with money to prove the statement, which otherwise would be understandably laughable.

We are making a policy of giving credit when credit is due, and this will be implemented across the board - regardless of who, or what is causing a stir for the right reasons. With that we are going to go ahead and tip our hat to FOX NEWS Sunday’s Chris Wallace for his interview with McCain campaign manager Rick Davis on his program which aired yesterday. Wallace did what so many of his coworkers on FOX simply refuse to do — break from the usual “script” of coddling anything on the “right”, while lambasting without regard anything coming from the “left”.

The AP - With its riveting orchestration, definitive guitar play and signature sensual baritone vocals, Isaac Hayes’ theme song for the 1971 movie “Shaft” not only became one of pop music’s iconic songs, but also the defining work of Hayes’ career. Yet the “Theme from Shaft,” which would earn both Grammy’s and an Oscar, was just a snippet of the groundbreaking music for which Hayes, who died Sunday at age 65, was responsible.

BEIJING (AP) - Michael Phelps powered to the wall and whipped around to get his time, so eager to see another amazing set of numbers that he bumped his head on the end of the pool. Not that he felt any pain. With President Bush cheering him on, Phelps dominated his first event of the Beijing Olympics on Sunday morning, crushing his own world record and all hopes of his challengers with a mark of 4 minutes, 3.84 seconds in the 400-meter individual medley.
An Early Look at Barack Obama’s Olympic Advertisement: “Hands”

Yesterday the Barack Obama campaign unveiled their 30 second television ad spot which will be airing throughout the Olympic proceedings. The title of the ad spot is “Hands” and it primarily focuses on economic and energy related issues - the message is clear and concise, and it is likely to have an impact among voters of crucial swing states such as Ohio, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Florida.
Sam Stein over at the HuffingtonPost writes:
“Thirty-seconds in length, only half the advertisement is devoted to Obama’s proposals. Nevertheless, the fact that the campaign has devoted considerable resources to the spot — $5 million — serves as a strong reflection of the important role energy is playing in the campaign.
For an illustration of the drastic difference in tone between the Obama and McCain campaigns, contrast this ad with the one McCain released Friday morning.”
The contrast between the two camps message really is something to marvel at. You can begin seeing the sheer desperation being exhibited from McCain and company - and to be completely honest, it’s actually kind of sad. So, with that said - here’s a look at Obama’s Olympic ad, “Hands”:

It has been well documented that George W. Bush and his cronies that include VP Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld, Duncan Keith, Richard Pearle, and many others knowingly lied to the American public regarding why we were going to invade the sovereign nation of Iraq. Whether it be the Pentagon releasing hard documents showing that the Bush administration knowingly lied 935 times about various facets of the invasion, or whistle blowers like Scott McClellan going public with admissions of knowingly lying on behalf of the President regarding Iraq.
