Earlier this evening Presidential hopefuls Barack Obama and John McCain took turns answering questions from mega church Pastor Rick Warren. The setting was Saddleback Mega Church, which is located in sunny Orange County, CA and also is one of the larger, more mainstream evangelical super centers of prayer. Both candidates are friends with Pastor Warren, the founder of the church and moderator of tonights forum, and came up with the idea of a dual candidate Q and A months ago.
“Say it Ain’t So”: FOX’s Chris Wallace Takes Hardline With McCain Advisor Rick Davis
August 11, 2008
We are making a policy of giving credit when credit is due, and this will be implemented across the board - regardless of who, or what is causing a stir for the right reasons. With that we are going to go ahead and tip our hat to FOX NEWS Sunday’s Chris Wallace for his interview with McCain campaign manager Rick Davis on his program which aired yesterday. Wallace did what so many of his coworkers on FOX simply refuse to do — break from the usual “script” of coddling anything on the “right”, while lambasting without regard anything coming from the “left”.
“It’s Almost Like They Take Pride in Being Ignorant”: Obama Strikes Back
August 5, 2008
This is the Barack Obama that Democrats, and more importantly - this country needs. Of course I am referring to Obama’s firing back of sorts during a campaign stop in Berea, Ohio. Barack Obama seemingly had heard enough, over the last week we have been inundated with a steady stream of garbage courtesey of the new and not so improved McCain/Rove machine.
So the GOP Doesn’t Like “Celebrities” who Visit Europe, Speak Well & are Adored?
August 5, 2008
Here is a new ad coming from the Democrats which is aimed at pointing out the sheer hypocrisy, and down right baseless attacks that have been levied at Democratic hopeful Barack Obama over the last week or so. Specifically this spot takes on the notion that McCain and company have been pathetically attempting to peddle, which claims Obama is too much like a “celebrity”, and because of the high levels of adoration both here and abroad, that he is somehow disqualified or discredited too run the country. Oh how far this country has lowered it’s bar of expectations over the last eight years - clearly another Bush success story…
New Quinnipiac Shows Obama Leading McCain 49-41 Nationally
July 15, 2008
A brand new Quinnipiac Poll (literally. It was released a couple minutes ago) shows Barack Obama holding a 50% - 41% lead over his Republican counterpart John McCain. This according to a nationwide poll of likely voters which was comprised over a three day span, July 10th through 13th. The internals of this poll however are almost, if not altogether, more intriguing then the actual surface number, which has Obama up by 9 points.
“Exceptions to the Rule”: The Fastest Growing Cities in America
July 13, 2008
Here is the top 10 list of Fastest Growing Cities in America. As you can see New Orleans sits on top as number one, having experienced a 13.8% growth rate this year, however it should be noted that the same city experienced the largest numerical decline just a couple years a go on the heels of Hurricane Katrina - a natural disaster I don’t think anyone has forgotten about.
Anyways, you will see that more then just a few of these cities are for the most part “unknown”, in the sense that they have never really been considered “thriving” city centers of their respective states (with the exception being Las Vegas of course).
But here they are, the Census Bureau’s “Top 10 Fastest-growing Large Cities in the Nation”:
1) New Orleans, LA: 13.8% Growth Rate
2) Victorville, CA: 9.5% Growth Rate
3) McKinney, TX: 8.0% Growth Rate
4) Las Vegas, NV: 7.4% Growth Rate
5) Cary, NC: 7.3% Growth Rate
6) Killeen, TX: 6.5% Growth Rate
7) Port St. Lucie, FL: 6.3% Growth Rate
8 ) Gilbert, AZ: 5.8% Growth Rate
9) Clarksville, TN: 4.8% Growth Rate
10) Denton, TX: 4.7% Growth Rate
These are some astounding numbers when you take into account that a large majority of US cities have seen little to no growth over the last couple of years - this is due primarily to a severely damaged economy.
But hey, I’ll shut up, I’m just “whining” again.
FOX Continues to Back Phil Gramm’s Statement: Hannity Proclaims “Maybe We are a Bunch of Whiners”
July 13, 2008
It looks as though the good people over at FOX News have been assigned their talking points regarding how they cover former Senator Phil Gramm’s controversial remarks claiming that the recession “was purely mental”, and that American’s have become a “bunch of whiners”. Fred Barnes kicked off the cheer leading for FOX while appearing on Brit Hume’s program two days ago, and last night FOX’s leading ignoramus Sean Hannity joined on the “support Gramm, bash American’s” bandwagon.
Obama Campaign Set to Run “Rapid Response” Radio Spot: Listen to it Here
July 12, 2008
Barack Obama is hitting back, and they are doing it in a swift, and unwavering fashion - something that John Kerry never seemed able to accomplish, or in some instances, even attempt. I am referring to a new radio ad put out by the Obama campaign that will hit airwaves sometime later on today. The purpose of the ad is too rapidly respond to the asinine advertisement released earlier this past week by Republican National Committee, claiming that Obama will hike taxes across the board - an accusation that simply bears no truth whatsoever.
FOX’s Fred Barnes Agrees w/Phil Gramm: “Hypocrisy is Alive & Well”
July 12, 2008
The often dim-witted and out of touch, Fred Barnes, of FOX News was on Brit Hume’s round table yesterday and well - pretty much agreed with everything, and I mean everything, former Senator Phil Gramm said earlier this week about American’s being in a “mental recession”, and that we as a nation have become nothing but a pack of “whiners”. With McCain quickly backtracking from the statement, and the majority of the GOP running for the hills away from Gramm’s statement - the almighty Fred Barnes seems to see it for what it really is - “straight talk.”
Dow Jones Hits a Two-Year Low…
July 11, 2008
NEW YORK - Stocks have pared steep losses on reports that the Federal Reserve has told mortgage companies Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac they can borrow money from the central bank if necessary. The Dow Jones industrials, which had been down more than 250 points in the session, have at times moved into positive territory in volatile trading. The Dow is now off 55 at the 11,173 level.
