Released just hours ago, a national poll conducted by NEWSWEEK shows that Senator Barack Obama is all but pulling away in the ongoing Democratic Primary, and now leads Hillary Clinton nationally by approximately 20 points among registered Democratic voters. The very same poll shows Sen. Obama leading Senator John McCain head to head, however unlike his colossal lead over Clinton, Obama only enjoys a 4 point cushion over McCain (48%-44% with a +/- of 8 points.) NEWSWEEK has a strong track record when it comes to their national polls accuracy, and compared with their national poll finding a statistical dead heat between the two:
- Obama 54% (Last Poll: March - 45%)
- Hillary 35% (Last Poll: March - 44%)
And the internals show little hope for Clinton who was already already a long shot prior to the release of this poll to receive the Democratic nomination. According to the raw data Obama is now ahead among women as well as men, and voters aged 60 and older as well as younger voters. And reverting back to the head to head numbers between Obama and McCain, here are the trend numbers, which when looked at closely do not paint the same picture the mainstream media is trying portray regarding Obama’s chances in November:
