Bill Richardson Drops Out of the Race

After a second consecutive fourth place finish in New Hampshire New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson has announced that he will be dropping out of the Democratic presidential race. This two term Governor has more then average resume, in fact Richardson arguably has the most fit resume out of the whole bunch. However this was not enough to propel Richardson in the polls, and more importantly the eyes of the voters.

Richardson planned to announce the decision Thursday, according to two people close to the governor with knowledge of the decision. They spoke on a condition of anonymity in advance of the governor’s announcement.
Richardson’s campaign would not comment on the governor’s decision, reached after a meeting with his top advisers Wednesday in New Mexico.

Richardson’s departure from the race drew statements of praise from fellow Democrat candidates. John Edwards had this to say about Richardson:

“He was a very good candidate, a serious candidate … I congratulate him. He ought to be proud of what he’s done,”

There is no doubt Bill Richardson will be back, he is too qualified and cares to much for his country to just fade away. I am unsure exactly what Richardson will do next, maybe a Senate run, or maybe a short break until he starts prepping for another presidential bid in the future.
