Forbes has released it’s most recent study, and it covers the top 10 “recession proof” cities in the United States. As home prices continue to plummet, unemployment steadily on the rise and the economy forecasting sloth like growth movements the majority of America finds themselves entrenched in some economic pinch, either major, minor or a little bit of both. However, even with all of this negative trending, a handful of U.S. cities are doing just fine.

For instance, look at Oklahoma City, Okla. They are championing a falling unemployment, one of the country’s strongest housing markets, and solid growth in agriculture, energy and manufacturing, it looks best positioned among the nation’s largest metropolitan areas to ride out the current crisis.

Following close behind is San Antonio, Texas. It also features solid employment figures and affordable home prices that continue to rise. Its industries are growing; it can’t hurt that the new AT&T was formed when San Antonio-based SBC Communications swallowed the old AT&T Corp. and BellSouth.

Other cities worthy of the title “recession proof” include Austin, Texas; Houston; Charlotte, N.C.; Dallas; San Jose, Calif.; Raleigh, N.C.; Salt Lake City; and Seattle. I urge you to take a look at the Top 10 Recession Proof Cities in America: “In Pictures”, which are located directly below:
