Carlsbad, CA – The Huffington Post is reporting and interesting happening which occurred at last nights “All Things Digital” conference sponsored by the Wall Street Journal, Rupert Murdoch – Chairman of News Corp, new Wall Street Journal owner, and longtime torchbearer for conservative politics – had this to say in regards too the presumptive Democratic Presidential nominee, Senator Barack Obama:

“He is a rock star. It’s fantastic” “I love what he is saying about education.” “I don’t think he will win Florida…..but he will win in Ohio and the election”. “I am anxious to meet him.” “I want to see if he will walk the walk.”

Remeber folks, this is Rupert Murdoch talking, the guy owns, and framed FOX News to what we know it too be today, this guy is no liberal, hell, this guy isn’t even close to being a moderate. Murdoch is as right wing as they come, and for him to be saying this about Senator Obama really is quite newsworthy.

Now as far as the presumptive Republican nominee, Senator John McCain is concerned, well, let’s just say Murdoch seems to show a noticeably lack luster level of enthusiasm, especially in comparison to his gleaming statements regarding Obama. Murdoch said:

“McCain is a friend of mine. He’s a patriot. But he’s unpredicatble. Doesn’t seem to know much about the economy. He has been in Congress a long time, and you have to make a lot of compromises. So what’s he really stand for?… I think he has a lot of problems.”

One of two things is happening here. Either a) Murdoch is trying to cozy up early and often with the candidate (Senator Obama) whom he genuinely feels is going to become our next President for the obvious reasons (interviews with his network, early leads on stories, etc) or b) Is setting the bar low for the Republicans so that if in fact they do lose he can say, “I called it”, however if they win, say no hard feelings and go back to conducting business as usual, with yet another GOP led administration.
