The “Daily Show” with Jon Stewart continues to blow me away in the sense that here’s a guy, that for all the practical and obvious reasons we aren’t suppose to take seriously. However once again it is this “comic” (Jon Stewart) who is the one person in the media asking the candidates questions that actually have relevance in the eyes of American’s. And in this case, tough questioning of John McCain, a task that too many in the mainstream media have refused to do based on their love affair with the Arizona Senator.
The first half of the interview (which is not included below) was very introductory and light hearted, however the second part heated up, and might I add, heated up quickly. Stewart quizzed McCain on an assortment of issues ranging from the Hagee endorsement, to his seemingly detrimental connection to George Bush, even his campaign’s disgusting implication that Hamas (the terrorist organization) endorsed Sen Obama.
In the case of Senator John McCain the double-standard set in place by the majority of the mainstream media is obnoxious to say the least. This is all the more evident when you compare the other candidate; for example Barack Obama had to jump through hoops in order to distance himself from Rev. Wright. Yet John McCain is given a virtual pass on the Hagee situation (an endorsement he actively sought after for months) who routinely makes as controversial statements as Wright, yet never has to answer for them.
