Clintonite’s Turning Out to be McCain’s Biggest Supporters

May 31, 2008

This should come as no surprise, but it is becomming abundently clear that HIllary Clinton supporters are in fact shaping up too be Republican Presidential nominee John McCain’s biggest supporters, in both a “direct” and “indirect” fashion..Today’s DNC Rules and Bulaws committee meeting has been the center of conversation.over the past couple of weeks, with a lot of talk revolving around whether or not the protests, mainly coming from Clinton supporters (with the class and dignity they have become known for), would be an angry mob of Clinton loving women, or a.fair mannered.show of support. by adament Democrats. Well, as we found out early and often, the Clinton supporters opted for the whole “devisive”, scortch the earth protest, which seems to.reflect Hillary.Clinton’s primary strategy.

The Influential Group “EMILY’s List” is Causing More Problems For Democrats

May 31, 2008

This marks the second time the influential group Emily’s List has gone ahead and offered both their endorsement and services too a candidate challenging a Democrat incumbent.. This time Emily’s List, a group who supports female candidates who are pro choice – only, has stepped in and supported Nikki Tinker., the challenger taking on liberal Democrat congressman Steve Cohen:

The group, which backs female candidates who support abortion rights, announced Friday its support for Democrat Nikki Tinker in her primary challenge to Rep. Steve Cohen (D-Tenn.)

The group helped Democrat Donna Edwards defeat Rep. Al Wynn (D-Md.) in the February primary. It is the second straight cycle the group has backed Tinker, but EMILY’s List spokeswoman Ramona Oliver said the decision was more difficult now that Cohen is the incumbent.

Cohen defeated a crowded field of Democrats in 2006 to win an open seat and become one of very few white representatives from a majority-black district.

While this no doubt serves as an annoyance to Tennessee Democrats, who will now have to divulge more funds and focus on Tinker, opposed to the GOP’s candidate, it’s by no means the end of the world.

Recently a poll put together by Lake Research Centers in Tennessee illustrated why in fact Cohen shouldn’t be all “gloom and doom” over Emily’s List endorsement of Tinker. The poll showed Cohen leading Tinker among likely voters by a whopping 63% to 11% margin.

“One Down, One to Go”: DNC Comes to a Decision Regarding FL & Now Begin Work on MI

May 31, 2008

The Huffington Post reports that two sources, including a high-ranking official with the Florida delegation, have confirmed that the DNC Rules and Bylaws Committee (RBC) reached an agreement last night and will seat the state’s entire delegation but give each delegate half a vote. The result would be a net gain of 19 delegates for Sen. Hillary Clinton, though there is no word yet on how the superdelegates from the state will be allocated. It is, the official says, a compromise that Sen. Barack Obama will be willing to make:

Colbert’s “Tip of the Hat, Wag of the Finger”: Featuring Michelle Malkin

May 30, 2008

By now I am sure most of you are aware who Michelle Malkin is. If not here is a quick run down; she is crazy, not to mention incredibly spiteful, loves to hate monger, hates everything about immigration (which is odd given her own background), and is about as rational as Mike Tyson – on Red Bull and caffeine pills that is.

Anyways Mrs. Malkin was featured on Comedy Centrals “Colbert Report”, as part of the now infamous “Tip of the Hat, Wag of the Finger” segment. Watch as Colbert does his thing and shows Malkin for what she really is:

Geraldine Ferraro’s Latest Op-Ed: If You Thought She Was Done, You Were Wrong

May 30, 2008

Geraldine Ferraro has given us quite a few headlines throughout the Democratic Primary cycle. It began with her declaration that race was the reason why Obama was in fact winning primary after primary, followed by a whirlwind media blitz, which included her new best friends over at FOX News, which had her refusing to apologize for her statements. Then we were treated to Geraldine’s temper tantrum which came in the public airing of her resignation from the Clinton campaign staff which included Ferraro’s “goodbye” letter and all, and then there was the most recent dust up which had Geraldine proclaiming that she may not vote for Obama come the November election (keeping with her trend of class). Needless to say – “she’s baaaaack.” Today Ferraro unleashed a continuation of her useless and divisive banter via an op-ed piece which appeared in the Boston Globe.

Another Construction Crane Collapses in NYC: Chaos & Panic Ensues

May 30, 2008

NEW YORK – The Associated Press is reporting that a construction crane collapsed Friday on New York’s Upper East Side, smashing into a 23-story apartment building as it fell to the ground, killing two construction workers and seriously injuring another.

It was the second deadly crane accident in 2 1/2 months and the latest of several construction mishaps in the city, which recently shook up its Building Department and beefed up inspections.

“What has happened is unacceptable and intolerable. Having said that, we do not know at the moment what happened or why,” Mayor Michael Bloomberg said at a news conference, adding that it appears the builders followed regulations.

City building department records show that inspectors stopped crane work twice last month, once because they said a crane lacked the proper permit and was being operated in an unsafe manner.

The mayor said the top part of the crane snapped off and fell against the building on the southwest corner of 91st Street and First Avenue about 8 a.m. Witnesses described a loud boom, then a cloud of smoke and debris.

“The sound was like a thunder clap. Then, an earthquake,” said Peter Barba, who lives on the seventh floor of the damaged building across the street from where workers were erecting a luxury apartment tower.

Video from the scene showed the upper-floor balconies of the apartment building were severely damaged and a hole extended several stories down the side of the building. The mayor said seven buildings were evacuated as a precaution.

One body was brought out of the rubble, placed on a gurney and covered in a white sheet. A construction worker knelt over the stretcher, gently stroking the sheet.

Killed were crane operator Donald Leo, 30, who was in the cab when it broke away from the spindly machine and plummeted to the ground, and Ramadan Kurtaj, 27, pronounced dead after being taken to a hospital, officials said.

A third construction worker was seriously injured, and one pedestrian was treated for minor injuries.

Construction foreman Scott Bair said one of the workers on his 40-man crew, Simeon Alexis, was taken to the hospital with his “chest slashed open.”

“Everyone was shook up and crying. These are some hardened men, but they were crying,” he said.

Chaos enveloped the largely residential neighborhood of town houses and apartment high-rises as dozens of emergency vehicles raced to the scene during the morning rush hour.

Robert Lopez, manager of a Duane Reade pharmacy on the ground floor of the building that was hit, said he was 10 feet from the window when he heard “a big boom.”

“Everybody was yelling and running and calling 911,” he said. When he looked out again, he saw part of the crane had landed just feet from the window where he had been standing.

Susan Haines, a retired inspector for the Consolidated Edison utility, said she went out on the street when she heard the commotion and saw neighbors running.

She was later evacuated, carrying one dog in her arms and another in a shoulder bag. Asked where she was going, she replied, “I have no clue.”

The general contractor on the project, Leon D. DeMatteis Construction Corp. of Elmont, posted a statement on its Web site Friday: “First and foremost, our thoughts and prayers are with the families of those affected by this terrible tragedy. We are currently in the process of gathering all the facts surrounding this unfortunate accident and will provide more details as they become available.”

Sorbara Construction, a subcontractor, was in charge of operating the crane. A woman who answered the telephone at Sorbara on Friday said no one was available to comment.

The neighborhood, not far from the mayor’s official residence, Gracie Mansion, has undergone a construction boom in recent years, with high-rises swiftly replacing older, low-rise brownstones.

Full of bars and casual restaurants, the neighborhood is populated with a mix of retirees, students and young professionals. Until recently, it had been considered one of Manhattan’s more affordable neighborhoods.

Cranes at the site had generated several complaints in the neighborhood, including reports that safety barriers were breached and heavy loads passed over the heads of pedestrians, according to city building department records.

Inspectors found that most of the concerns were unwarranted, but they did temporarily order one crane at the site to stop all work on April 23 for not having the proper permit and for operating the crane in an unsafe matter.

Building Department records also said officials halted work after a crane on the site failed a “load test” on April 22. The crane passed a second test, however, the next day, and no violation was issued.

In a March 15 accident about 2 miles to the south, contractors building a 46-story condominium near the United Nations were trying to lengthen a crane when a steel support broke, killing seven people. A four-story town house was demolished and several other buildings were damaged.

A buildings inspector had found the crane to be safe a day before the collapse; another inspector resigned after his arrest on charges of lying earlier about inspecting the same crane.

In April, the city’s buildings commissioner resigned, under fire over a rising number of deadly construction accidents that have left more than 26 construction workers dead in the past year.

Since then, the city has added extra inspections at building sites and required that its staff be on hand whenever the towering cranes were raised higher, a process known as a jump. But on Thursday, just a day before the newest accident, the city reversed that rule, allowing crane jumps without the presence of inspectors. Procedures at the sites are still being revised.

Right Wing Web Site Unveils Their “Patriots & Traitors” List

May 30, 2008

The right wing fringe site, Country Above Self, has released their “highly anticipated” Patriots and Traitors list. Now I would like to point out that whomever the people were in charge of formulating this list an/or participated in the voting are either a) “crazy” in a clinical sense, or b) attempting to be funny. there is a part of me that’s taken aback at the pure, and unadulterated irony represented in both the “Patriots” and “Traitors.” sections, an irony which I am sure you will pick up on. To say that the final list shows sheer hypocrisy would be an understatement, again, something you will be able to see for yourself.

Obama Takes a Commanding Lead Over Both McCain & Hillary In California

May 30, 2008

It was not too long ago (February 5th, 2008) that Hillary Rodham Clinton won the Democratic primary in the great state of California, which she then in turn (and rightfully so) utilized as part of her argument as too why in fact she was the more electable of the two, and that she was the one winning the big states, the states that Democrats need to win in November. While I don’t disagree with her whatsoever, I would like to point out that I do not suspect Hillary will be citing California any time soon in her argument claiming she’s the more electable nominee.

Stephen Colbert’s “Democralypse Now”: MI & FL Delegations

May 30, 2008

Watch as Comedy Central’s Stephen Colbert offers some of his expert analysis to break down the situation regarding the seating of delegates from both Michigan and Florida. In typical Colbert fashion, the situation is made clear through precise reasoning and of course, a hint of political intuition.

Colbert really hits the nail on the head when he points out that:

“To deny the votes of Michigan and Florida is to say that Kurt Cobain died in vain.”

Which couldn’t be a more god honest assessment of the current debacle of democracy those on the left find themselves staring at. Luckily all this hoopla will be over soon as the Democratic Rules and Bylaws committee is scheduled to meet and make the final decision on what to do with Florida and Michigan tomorrow afternoon.

Anyways here is the video, which you probably already imagined is hilarious.
