Clinton Victorious in Pennsylvania: But What Exactly Does It Change?
April 23, 2008

Well it’s over, and the final numbers are in. Clinton looks to have taken Pennsylvania by 10 points, which in turn netted 52 pledged delegates for her, while Obama and his 45% of the vote will walk away with approximately 46 pledged delegates. While the talking heads on network television are ranting and raving about what a “HUGE” win this is for Clinton I am somewhat perplexed as to where this new found enthusiasm for double digit wins was when Obama was winning by astronomical margins:
- Obama won Virginia by 29 %
- Obama won Colorado by 35 %
- Obama won Georgia by 36 %
- Obama won South Carolina by 28 %
And even with this sizable wins there was not half the “Oh My Gosh, What a Huge Win,” was reported as it is for Hillary’s 10% victory in Pennsylvania. But what can you really do, this new shift in media support has clearly shifted too Clinton over the past two months, and examples like this are just another notch in the anti-Obama railing coming from a huge sector of network news.
Both the pledged delegates and the popular vote count Hillary gained tonight in Pennsylvania will easily be negated upon the North Carolina Primary which Obama is a huge favorite in according to every single poll that has been, and is in the process of being released.
I think it will be quite amusing to watch the pundits yap away after the North Carolina primary, after Obama equalizes any gain Hillary made tonight, and there is no doubt in my mind that they will somehow find a way to downplay it as much as they feasibly can.
