An Angry Clinton Supporter Is Leading a "Writers Strike" At DailyKos

In an interesting, and somewhat comical temper tantrum that has been playing out over the past 24 hours has a Hillary Clinton supporter, and contributor at DailyKos.com supposedly proclaiming herself on a one woman “writers strike”, due to her perceived view that the treatment of Hillary Clinton and her supporters at DailyKos.com is unfair, sexist, et cetera, et cetera. Being a Kos reader myself I must admit that I have never noticed the slightest hint of “ganging up” or piling on any one candidate or their supporters. In fact I think the site is about as equally divided amongst Hillary and Obama backers as you could possibly expect on a website of that magnitude. Unfortunately it seems as though I am way, and according to Alegre, the pro Clinton writer, who is currently leading this quasi-writes strike– the treatment of Hillary is completely unacceptable and downright unwarranted:

I’ve decided to go on “strike” and will refrain from posting here as long as the administrators allow the more disruptive members of our community to trash Hillary Clinton and distort her record without any fear of consequence or retribution. I will not be posting at DailyKos effective immediately. I will not help drive up traffic or page-hits as long as my candidate a good and fine DEMOCRAT – is attacked in such a horrid and sexist manner not only by other diarists, but by several of those posting to the front page.”

I don’t know what to do when reading this, part of me wants to laugh, which I must admit I am currently doing, but another part of me is incredibly perplexed by this innate perception by Hillary’s supporters of how she is being treated by the general public, it is almost a mirror image to that of the Hillary’s actual campaign staff, and their consistent, unwavering, and borderline obnoxious whining regarding a self contrived, imaginary world of unfair media treatment, first questions in debates, primaries and caucuses, and pretty much everything else that has anything to do with the 2008 Democratic Primary being waged against their “girl”.

Alegre, the pen name of the DailyKos contributor whom has seemingly managed to not only unionize the site, but also call for, and take the lead of the current “writers strike” which is underway as we speak over at Kos. Alegre, who describes herself as, “married with children – pro-choice, tree-hugging, Million Mom Marchn’, yellow-dog- Democrat” announced the act of protest yesterday in an incredibly anger filled proclamation:

“This is a strike – a walkout over unfair writing conditions at DailyKos. It does not mean that if conditions get better I won’t “work” at DailyKos again. As a regular contributor to the discourse in our community, I would certainly hope to take part in the conversation DailyKos again some day if we ever get to the point where we’re engaging each other in discussion rather than facing off in shouting matches.

But not now. Writers need a safe place to reach out and exchange ideas, to communicate and challenge one another. DailyKos should be that place, but its tone, its essence has evolved into something ugly
and destructive. Good writers can’t survive in that kind of atmosphere. Democrats shouldn’t have to put up with that from fellow
Democrats. Sadly, the majority of the administrators have allowed this hostile environment to develop in our online community for anyone who isn’t planted firmly in the Obama camp. They’ve routinely ignored personal attacks and allowed disruptive, spam-like posts to go unchecked whenever anyone expresses support for Hillary or challenges something their candidate has said or done.

And continued on posing odd hypothetical questions while at the same time continuing to make one accusation after another:

“The double standards, the distortions, the hateful, irrational, personal attacks, and the lies about Hillary and her long and distinguished record of public service stop here and they stop now.

So I hereby announce the formation of a new labor union…

• The American Federation of Concerned Bloggers (AFCB).

This is a writer’s strike – who’ll join me on the picket line?By the way…
Are you current on your union dues? Pony-up folks.”

You have to love the Clinton donation pitch at the end, it was done so in such a “witty” manner. But joking aside this has actually picked up some attention around the blogosphere, including its own spot on the Huffington Post. So what’s the feedback like coming from the DailyKos community, that really is startling in its size, which includes depending on the day millions of readers.

It seems as though, like everythin
g else on the site, the sentiment towards this declaration of a “pissed of Clinton supporter” is receiving mixed reviews with both support and dissent being expressed from respective readers. That being said I figured I would do a little research, it’s kind of dead right now, and I figure this could be some fun. So, I decided I would look through Alegrae’s blog entries at both DailyKos and MyDD (which happens to be somewhat, actually, incredibly, anti-Obama), to see if she in fact had any part in the “double standards, the distortions, the hateful, irrational, personal attacks, and the lies” that both sides are guilty of, with Hillary actually sitting a little guiltier based on her new found love of race baiting. Anyways, lets check out Alegre, the greatest progressive liberal we have ever seen.

Before I divulge what I came across I want to say that I am actually in a semi state of shock. Having read multiple blog entries by this lady I am convinced that –and I am honestly not trying to low blow her or be factitious in saying this– but I really suspect that something may be wrong with her, in the sense that maybe she’s not all there. Not only does she clearly use the type of rhetooric and attack methods she fraudulently declared to be so profoundly against, but I also discovered a disturbing trend in her blog entries that illustrated her consistent use of the “Karl Rovian tactic of political campaigning”, that being to accuse your opponent of what you or your team is guilty of. But instead of filling up even more space, and wasting more of your time, I will simply stick to the blatant “dirt politics” that Alegre is just as involved in any Obama supporter on DailyKos. So here they are, these are the words, verbatim, written by the same person who yesterday claimed she was “going on strike” stating to fellow Clinton supporters;

“Let’s take a stand here and now and tell the world we will no longer remain silent in the face of the sexism, anger, irrational hate, lies and attacks against Hillary. Nor will we add to the bottom line of a site that continues to lead the charge in fueling it.”

It’s a shame people for some reason tend to forget to follow their own advice when going about their daily routines. In this case, Alegrae manages to comes off as yet another hypocritical, quasi bleeding heart, radical whose anger does not allow her to see what’s really going on. Here are some examples of what I am talking about:

-On the Supposed “Snub” at the State Of the Union:

• “You’ve gotta hand it to Obama he’s mastered the art of behaving like a petulant child”

• You can almost picture the dialogue bubble over Obama’s head as he’s giving Hillary the evil eye there. Stay away bitch he’s mine! I got him and you didn’t so keep away I tell ya keep awaaaaaaaayyyyyyyy!!!!!!!”

• “I mean seriously can you imagine how other nations are viewing this whole thing, wondering if this is how Obama will treat their emissaries? Can you imagine the fall-out if he’d done this to the leader of Pakistan, North Korea or Iran at some international conference? All hell would break loose!”

• “I can hear it now…No! I won’t sit with that girl! I wanna sit with my new best friend Teddy!Ok I know I’m being cheeky with this one but I’ve been waiting for a chance to use this all day…”

-On Obama and NAFTA:

• “He’s using fear and lies to turn voters against Hillary in his stump speeches”

-Strategy Regarding The Strike (this is more for comedic purposes then anything else)

• “This will only work though if we stick to it and stay away from DailyKos guys. No lurking. No peeking in. No tipping, rec’ing, commenting and for god(dess) sake – no diaries. They get no traffic from us. No ad revenues. Not until they stop the hateful attacks, misrepresentations of Hillary and her record, and outright lies about her long record of dedicated public service.”

On Obama & the Housing Crisis:

• “Sen. Obama is positioning himself to the right of President Bush.”

• “Barack Obama’s tepid response to this crisis is more that of someone coming from a Republican angle rather than a Democratic one”

• “I’m sick of people saying we have two wonderful candidates. We have Hillary and we have OGod. One serious. One to faint for.”

Is She Being Serious? (Not really an attack, but telling of this ladies pattern of thought)

• I finally called it a day around 1am and as I was clearing out the dishes hubby left in the sink (sigh, again) I paused for a minute – leaned on the sink and thought… how in the HELL does Hillary keep on going in the face of the hate, the anger, the unfair media coverage, the sexism, and – tonight especially this latest disappointment? What drives this sister with the heart of a lioness?

I am sorry, I seriously am if anyone takes offense to what I am about to say: This type of statement leads me to believe that not only is this lady bat shit crazy, but representative of the Hillary Clinton base, and it is is downright scary. We are talking genital stomping, bra burning, fringe fem bots here, who don’t argue issues, insteadthey argue a radical frame of mind.

Not only is Alegre rather stolid regarding the actual issues, but she appears to think she is somehow involved with Hillary the person, and not the campaign, as an unpaid volunteer. I am not saying this isn’t incredibly knoble, it is, I have volunteered and done some
work for the Obama campaign on multiple occasions so far, but I don’t like I know the man. Well, she does, and it’s really odd, and may be a sign of some sort of compulsion disorder, I want to say schizophrenic but that may be to harsh. I don’t know, I am not a psychiatrist, but I do know that statements like these are not normal for anyone or any group to reiterate with such a non-nonchalant and “this is perfectly normal” tone in their voice:

“And boy did she fire us up. I turned into a cheer leader after she left and shouted to the room “are we ready to make calls straight through until the polls are closed????” It was like a pep rally for a few minutes I swear!”

“a bunch of us were out at the Democratic brunch, passing out a lot of lapel stickers.”

“Pimped out. He was laughing when he said that. We’re either brainless pawns in some evil plan, or we’re pimps & whores. I’m mad as hell over this latest round of attacks & from what hearing I’m not alone in thinking that MSNBC has just sparked a woman’s uprising that will make what happened in New Hampshire seem like a small wave on a lake. We’re talking tsunami here folks.”

“This might make a good open thread for anyone who’s into Hillary’s HERstoric run for the White House.”

“Some are from the haters who say eff you I hope you all die but hey, I expected that. I won’t bother posting them here but I think they draw a sharp contrast between Obama’s and Hillary’s supporters. I don’t know about you but I would never think to send a nasty note to someone simply because I disagree with their choice of candidate. Apparently, his supporters saw fit to send me nasty notes” (wow, if this isn’t an example of a challenged though process I don’t know what is)

It is never ending, I mean I could write a book on either a) the flat out misinformed, and preposterous statements she consistently makes, or b) countless examples of the very attacks, and hate mongering which supposedly sent her off the deep end, ultimately causing her personal “strike” against DailyKos.

I am seriously to the point of where I am racking my brain, and researching multiple mental health conditions that this women may suffer from. This is no joke folks, after the amount of reading of I just got done with it is no longer a question of “if” something is seriously wrong with her, it has now become a matter of “what” is wrong with her. That being said, I am going to go now, but I want to leave you on a special note, a real powerful, and personally, emotional quote regarding this highly competitive democratic primary. So please, take a second, read it over, and let me hear some feedback.
