Lou Dobbs Comes Awfully Close to Calling Condi Rice a "Cotton Picker"

Lou Dobbs visited Wolf Blitzer in the “Situation Room” on Friday and railed against Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice for her comments on race which she made during an interview with Washington Post editors last week. Rice who spoke at length with the paper stated that she considered race in America a problem still today, and referred to race as one of our countries “birth defects.” Dobbs proceeded to dismiss Rice’s statements, claiming race is no longer an issue in modern day America:
“The reality is, this is the most socially, ethnically, religiously, racially diverse society on the face of the earth,” Dobbs continued to say; “Now, Wolf, we don’t make enough of that in the national media. We listen to some idiot say you can’t talk about race.”
Then comes the point of no return, or in this case, nearly the point of no return. Dobbs, who was in the middle of his ranting and raving came as close as you can to committing an on air career suicide:
“Not a single one of these cotton… **realizes what he is about to say** …these just ridiculous politicians should be the moderator on the issue of race in America.”
Attached is video of the obnoxious blow hard, Dobbs, nearly making an incredibly offensive racial remark while trying to discredit the argument of race still being an issue in the United States. Good job Lou, you twit:
Video of Chelsea Getting Asked Another Lewinsky Question…
March 31, 2008
Watch as Chelsea Clinton is once again asked about Monica Lewinsky while campaigning for her mother. This time she faced the question at North Carolina State University. Chelsea’s response was very similar to the one she gave last week when a Butler University student inquired whether or not the scandal would hurt her credibility.
Clinton Backer Gov.Ed Rendell Praises FOX News For Their Coverage
March 31, 2008

Pennsylvania Governor and prominent Clinton surrogate Ed Rendell was a guest on this morning’s, Fox & Friends. Upon the goading of resident moron/co-host of the show, Rendell proclaimed that, “some of the other stations are just caught up with Senator Obama,” the prominent Clinton supporter is just another in the long list of Clinton backers cozying up to FOX News, the same network that rose to notoriety on the impeachment proceedings against then President Bill Clinton.
Then again when you look back over the past couple of months Hillary and her motley crue of supporters has clearly shown that they have no real shame when it comes to pandering for support, regardless of that support is nothing more then glorified ant-Obamaism. You only need to look at Hillary’s meeting with Richard Mellon Scaife, the man who for the most part single handedly funded Bill Clinton’s impeachment proceedings.
Obama Holds On to His Comfortable Lead According to New Polls
March 31, 2008
The upswing in Barack Obama’s national poll numbers seems to be alive and well according to the Gallup Poll Daily tracking conducted March 28-30 finds Barack Obama leading Hillary Clinton in national Democratic preferences for the nomination, 51% to 43%. This is the fourth consecutive Gallup Poll Daily tracking report showing Obama with a statistically significant lead. It marks the first time since late February that either Clinton or Obama has sustained a statistically significant lead in the race for more than two consecutive days.
Gallup is interviewing no fewer than 1,000 U.S. adults nationwide each day during 2008. The general election results are based on combined data from March 26-30, 2008. For results based on this sample of 4,394 registered voters, the maximum margin of sampling error is ±2 percentage points.
Candidates Who Vowed To "Stay in the Race" Until the Convention…
March 31, 2008
Over the last week Hillary Clinton and her campaign staff has made it a point to tell anyone who would listen that they full intend on “staying in the race until the convention.” This message, from Clinton, has not carried over into the mainstream media and as I was reading yet another article regarding Hillary’s recent declaration of commitment to stay in the race “all the way until the convention” something dawned on me. About fifteen minutes later, and a couple Google searches complete, it suddenly became crystal clear.
Throughout the 2008 primary cycle there has been a pattern among candidates from both parties, and that is that the majority of them make exuberant claims along the lines of “not going anywhere”, and “staying in the race until the convention.” The common denominator though is that once a candidate mutters that phrase, they are all but finished. Here is an outline proving my theory regarding candidates vowing to stay in the race all the way until the convention and the unfortunate reality that soon follows:
“Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney pledged to fight all the way to the Republican nominating convention this summer if necessary, despite being overpowered by John McCain in Super Tuesday contests.”
“WASHINGTON — Mike Huckabee hasn’t won a Republican presidential contest in a month. The result: money is tighter, his staff is smaller and he can’t seem to get the attention he once did. Still, he says he’s sticking around for the long haul — well past Tuesday’s coast-to-coast primaries and caucuses if need be.”
“WASHINGTON (CNN) ‚Äî Democrat John Edwards said Sunday he will stay in the presidential race through the party’s convention in late August, even if he fails to win any of the early presidential primary states. “This is the call of my life, and I have no intention of stopping,” Edwards said on ABC’s This Week. “I’m in this through the convention and to the White House.” Asked specifically if he’d remain a candidate even if he failed to garner a win over the next month, Edwards said, “Absolutely.”
Franklin Pierce University, Rindge, NH: Bill Richardson vows to continue his campaign into the West all the way until the convention. Where he will fight to get the troops out of Iraq and beat “No Child Left Behind.” About a week later Richardson announced he was in fact dropping out of the Democratic primary.
BOCA RATON, Fla. – Rudolph W. Giuliani, who has staked his candidacy on the Florida primary only to see his standing in statewide polls slip, said here Thursday afternoon that he would stay in the race even if he loses on Jan. 29.
Clearly you can see that the promise of “staying it until the convention” seemingly appears to be a campaign death rattle opposed to any sort of rallying cry. For each of these one time presidential hopefuls from Giuliani, to Edwards, and Huckabee to Richardson, their desire exceeded their campaigns capacity, and with a looming financial situation which is worsening by the day, one may question just how much longer Hillary can realistically stay in this thing.
Now do I think Hillary’s exit will be as quick as those above was upon their promise “to stay in it all the way”? No, probably not. That said, I do believe the Democrats will no doubt have their set candidate –Senator Barack Obama– no later then the first week in June, right around the Puerto Rico primary.
Clinton’s Debt Reaches a New High & Creditors Are Taking Note
March 31, 2008

It may not be a question of when Hillary decides to throw the towel in, it looks as though it very well could turn into a situation in which the Clinton camp is forced to close up shop. Apparently Clinton’s financial woes are quite a bit more serious then initially reported, in fact it has gotten so bad that the Clinton campaign has has been putting off paying an stack of bills for months now, a stack that is growing by the day. It appears that Clinton has opted out of paying for the goods and services rendered to to both her and her campaign in an effort to free up cash needed for critical media buys but also earning the campaign a reputation as something of a deadbeat in many business circles across the country.
It has gotten so bad that a couple of Ohio companies to whom Hillary’s camp owes more than $25,000 are taking action. These particular companies were hired for services such as staging events and rallies across the state for the Clinton, and are now doing all they can to spread the warning to others in the tight-knit event production community –and anyone else who will listen– to get their cash upfront when doing business with her. According to representatives of the two companies, the Clinton camp has simply stopped returning phone calls and e-mails seeking payment of outstanding invoices.
Now it’s nothing out of the ordinary for a campaign to put off certain payments for a month or so, on a case by case basis, but the situation Hillary Clinton currently finds herself in is unique for a couple different reasons:
It’s not just the size of Clinton’s debts that’s noteworthy. It’s also that her unpaid bills extend beyond the realm of high-priced consultants who typically let bills slide as part of the cost of doing business with powerful clientele whose success is linked to their own. Some of Clinton’s biggest debts are to pollster and chief strategist Mark Penn, who’s owed $2.5 million; direct mail company MSHC Partners, which is owed $807,000; phone-banking firm Spoken Hub, which is waiting for $771,000; and ad maker Mandy Grunwald, who’s owed $467,000.
Clinton’s campaign chief strategist Mark Penn is not the only individual debt Hillary owes a sizable chink of change too. In fact about a third of the nearly 700 individual debts Clinton reported at the end of February were for various types of ‚Äúevent expenses,‚Äù including $319,000 for catering and venue costs, $420,000 for equipment, $11,000 for photography and $9,000 for security and these just scratch the surface of outstanding IOU’s Hillary has out there:
She owes Iowa’s Sioux City Art Center Board of Trustees $3,500 for catering and venue costs, New Hampshire’s Winnacunnet Cooperative School District $4,400 in event costs, Qwest $24,000 for phone service, various branches of the Iowa-based supermarket chain Hy-Vee $15,000 for food, beverages and catering, and $7,700 to Ohio and Massachusetts branches of the theatrical stage employees’ union, for equipment costs.
All this incurred debt which continues to be racked up by Clinton and her staff is starting to seep into her politics as the word is getting around that Clinton’s campaign is now notorious for their refusal to pay even those in the labor oriented sector who have offered up their services for campaign stops:
“I feel insulted by the way that the campaign treated this company and treated us personally,” said the employee, who did not want to be named talking about a client.“We worked very hard to put together these events on a moment’s notice and do absolutely everything to a ‘t’ to make it look perfect on television for her and for her campaign,” said the employee. “Sen. Clinton talks about helping working families, people in unions and small businesses. But when it comes down to actually doing something that shows that she can back up her words with action, she fails.”
Another gentlemen had this too say about his dealings with the Clinton’s:
“It was only $607, but I’m a small guy; I could use that,” said Phillips, adding, “Everyone I can tell, I do tell about it. You tell somebody something bad about somebody, they tell 10 other people.”
And it’s here that you can begin to see the problems that may catch up to Clinton sooner then later. And while a couple of the companies holding unpaid invoices remain confident that they will eventually get paid, even the most optimistic among them was surprised to see that so many event production companies on the long list of those who remain ‘un-paid’ and waiting. All of this is pretty bad, especially when you throw in the published reports about similar difficulties faced by a New Hampshire landlord, an Iowa office cleaner and a New York caterer, which simply reiterate the notion that Clinton cannot keep up with Senator Barack Obama, and his financial support structure comprised of high volume, small increment donors.
Video Of MLB Fans Greeting President Bush With Boo-tiful Reception
March 31, 2008
Watch as President Bush throw out the ceremonial first pitch tonight at the Washington Nationals season opener and the inaugural game at Washington’s National Ballpark. The greatest thing about the video isn’t whether he hit the strike zone, or made it all the way to the plate without one hopping it. Instead, the President, an avid baseball fan who at one time owned the Texas Rangers a Major League Baseball franchise, received quite the response. And no it wasn’t cheering, in fact he was met with a chorus of thundering “boos” courtesy of the sellout crowd, which was 41,000 people large. It starts as he hits the field and heads the mound, and there is doubt that Dubya hears it reigning down on him loud and clear. ENJOY!
I just got a chance to read the AP write up via yahoo (hat tip to Roxanne) and I am confused as to what game this AP reporter was at, because the description he gives is not the one I saw on ESPN, or the video above. Here is the AP’s description of the event:
“By the time Bush emerged onto the baseball field, he had ditched the gray sports coat and popped out of the home dugout in a red Nationals jacket. He was greeted by plenty of loud jeers, but also determined cheers, as if the fans in both camps were trying to out duel each other.
The president didn’t dawdle on the pitcher’s mound. He quickly released the ceremonial first pitch high and to the third-base side of the plate, where Washington Nationals manager Manny Acta caught it with ease.”
“Greeted by loud cheers“, “Also determined cheers, as if the fans in both camps were trying to out duel each other“ They can’t be serious, I mean unless of course, “determined cheers” is some type of AP code for booing. ESPN is reporting the events a little bit differently on their website, where they describe the reaction fans gave the President’s first pitch:
He certainly showed zero jitters up at the plate. A few hours earlier, meeting President Bush? Now that’s a different story.”I was nervous at first,” Zimmerman said. “I didn’t know what to say to him.”Unlike Zimmerman, Bush drew a fugue of cheers and jeers when he came out to throw the ceremonial first pitch to Acta. It was part of a prelude of pomp and circumstance that was clearly topped by how the evening ended.
That’s more of an accurate description then that of the Associated Press wouldn’t you say? It’s really not that big of a deal I just found it humorous seeing as though even the color commentators calling the game for ESPN mentioned the booing. Oh well, I guess perception is in the of the beholder.
Joe Lieberman Perfects the Art of Political Hypocrisy…..
March 30, 2008
Earlier this morning Sen. Joe Lieberman, the former Democratic Senator and one time vice presidential candidate, from Connecticut finalized his transition from Democrat to hypocritical right winger during an appearance on ABC’s This Week. Before we get into this morning happenings concerning Lieberman I think it’s very important that we refresh ourself on our old pal Joe’s words, and apparent beliefs, both of which we now know were nothing more then attempts to pander voters. During the Connecticut Democratic Primary Debate, which took place on 07/06/2006 between Joe Lieberman, and then challenger Ned Lamont. Watch as Lieberman goes out of his way to make the following statement (video included):
“I want Democrats to be back in the majority in Washington and elect a Democratic president in 2008. This man [Ned Lamont] and his supporters will frustrate and defeat our hopes of doing that.”
George Stephanopoulos, host of This Week played the clip you saw above which had Lieberman claiming to want a Democrat back the White House in 2008. Lieberman, looking rather baffled and half asleep was then asked by Stephanopoulos why he‚Äôs backing Senator John McCain even though he made the claim in ‘06 that he wanted to; “elect a Democratic president in 2008.” Still appearing half dead, Lieberman proceeded to make some very interesting arguments, which he claims caused him to stray from the Democratic platform. Attached is the video clip of Lieberman’s response along with a portion of the interview text:
LIEBERMAN: I want Democrats to be back in the majority in Washington and elect a Democratic president in 2008.STEPHANOPOULOS: And Senator Joe Lieberman joins us now. You’re now an independent senator from Connecticut. But no one in your position has ever crossed over like this. You ran for vice president as a Democrat in 2000, ran for president as a Democrat in 2000. And now you are backing John McCain. What do you say to Democrats who say that that shows you’ve abandoned a lifetime of commitments?
LIEBERMAN: Well, I say that the Democratic Party changed. The Democratic Party today was not the party it was in 2000. It’s not the Bill Clinton-Al Gore party, which was strong internationalists, strong on defense, pro-trade, pro-reform in our domestic government. It’s been effectively taken over by a small group on the left of the party that is protectionist, isolationist and basically will –and very, very hyper partisan. So it pains me.
Not only does Lieberman contradict multiple political stances he has taken in the past which directly followed the ideology that appealed to Connecticut voters which ultimately got him elected, but he’s also painting Democrats in the light that Zell Miller did when he gave his scathing speech at the 2004 RNC, lambasting his former party, and John Kerry who at the time was the Democratic presidential nominee. And for him to make the comparison between John F. Kennedy and John McCain is a slap in the face to Kennedy’s legacy.
All in all Joe Lieberman accomplished what many have known for some time now, that being the total transformation from being a progressive Democratic politician, to now, a war mongering, ne0-conservative right winger. And with that comes a cold hard truth for Lieberman. He better pray McCain wins next November and then appoints him to some cabinet position, because if he doesn’t win, Lieberman mine as well consider his political career over.
Senator Lindsey Graham Left Looking Like a Fool On Fox News Sunday
March 30, 2008
(R-SC) Senator Lindsey Graham, one of John McCain’s closest and most treasured errand boys, appeared on this mornings showing of Fox News Sunday. Graham decided to spend his time attempting to spin the depressing news out of Iraq –including the raging violence taking place in Basra-- into a positive message, one which subsequently supports John McCain’s latest arguments claiming the “surge” is working. In a odd twist of logic, Graham repeatedly argued that both the decreasing violence in one part of Iraq, and the increasing violence in another part of Iraq, translates into “success” and that the surge is working. Watch as Democratic Senator Jack Reed puts Graham, and his backwards logic in place, ultimately leaving Graham looking silly:
(D-TX) Sheila Jackson Lee Greeted By Booing & Chants For Obama
March 30, 2008
Watch as U.S. Congresswoman (D-TX) Sheila Jackson Lee gets booed at Texas Senate District 13 Democratic Convention on March 29, 2008. Though her congressional district is overwhelmingly in support of Senator Barack Obama for President, Congresswoman Jackson Lee is a super delegate and supporter of Senator Hillary Clinton in the 2008 U.S. Presidential Race. When she took the stage, she had to wait a couple of minutes for the booing and Obama cheering to subside and kept remarking, “I’ll wait for you to stop.”
It would be easy to come to a couple different conclusions upon first seeing this clip. One could –and for good reason– conclude that this reaction was unruly or unprovoked, that is until you find out that Lee’s district –in a near unanimous manner– voted for Sen. Barack Obama to the tune of a 90% to 10% split, the 90 of course going for Obama. That said, Lee better get used to this type of “homecoming”, or better have something real good to say when trying to explain to 90% of her district why she is subsequently going against their will. And as far as her re-election is concerned, all I can say is –Ouch.
