Rasmussen has released their latest political poll numbers for the March 4th primary states of Texas and Ohio. For the first time, Rasmussen is showing Obama in the lead in the state of Texas, continuing a trend that had him steadily narrowing large earlier Clinton leads, and following other polling that gave Obama the lead days ago. Two weeks ago, Rasmussen showed Clinton leading Obama 54% to 38%, which is important to remember as the campaigns play the expectations game, which they have in each of the primaries to date. Below you will see todays numbers, which cannot be reassuring for Hillary.
Texas: 2/27. 503 likely voters. Margin of Error 4%
Clinton: 44% (46)
Obama: 48% (45)
Then their is the battle currently raging in Ohio, which too shows Obama making up a lot of ground, so much so that the once heavy lead Hillary has of 19 points just two and half weeks ago has dwindled down to 2 points today, which happens to be within the margin of error which is sitting at 3%. These are just another curve ball the Clinton camp has got to be worried about.
Ohio: 2/28. 862 likely voters. Margin of Error 3%
Clinton 47% (48)
Obama 45% (43)
Anyway you choose to look at it, the March 4th primaries are setting up to be absolute battles, with really either candidate having the ability to win one, or both of the prized delegate states of Ohio and Texas. It has pretty much become agreed upon that if Hillary cannot win both of these states, then she will more then likely drop from the primary race. Making March 4th all the more important for both and candidates, and more importantly the Democratic party in general.
David Duke Endorses Ralph Nader
February 29, 2008
Thursday night while appearing on the Alan Colmes radio show, the former KKK leader turned politician, David Duke, voiced his support for none other then independent Ralph Nader. The benevolent Duke said he has chosen Nader because the other candidates, including Barack Obama, are “for the Jewish extremists who are controlling American policy.”

Huckabee Angry Over An Extreme Evangelicals Endorsement of McCain
February 29, 2008

In a surprising fit of anger last night, Mike Huckabee, while addressing the crowd at a rally in Texarkana,, Texas, accused the Rev. John Hagee of playing politics over principle by endorsing Sen. John McCain earlier in the day. Huckabee continued on his high horse calling out John McCain for not accepting a debate, which in fact would have been the first and only head to head debate between members of the Republican party this primary season. It is somewhat confusing why Huckabee would even want the endorsement of Hagee, an influential activist in the Christian Zionist movement, who eagerly awaits the Armageddon, considers the Catholic Church to be the Anti-Christ, and has said that Jews brought their own persecution upon themselves. Maybe Huckabee realizes what’s going on right now in terms of the comical double standard being applied to Barack Obama and John McCain.
Obama was pressed relentlessly by both Russert, a moderator, and Clinton about repudiating Louis Farrakhan’s endorsement, which Obama had already denounced, not to mention ever asking for in the first place. This however did not stop Russert who insisted on leveling a barrage of questions, which had ultimately already been answered. By the end of the tag teaming of Clinton and Russert, Barack Obama had disowned Farrakhan multiple times, using the strongest language he possibly could.
Obviously, the precedent had been set for candidates and the endorsements of controversial religious figures, and how the candidate was expected to deal with them. Well, not so much, when it came to McCain’s extremely controversial backer, the press didn’t do more then lift a finger, illustrating a clear double standard, one that Huckabee may have picked up on. You see Huckabee realized that he can get the endorsements of these fringe elements in the evangelical movement and not fact the same scrutiny, as say, Barack Obama would have to answer to. And that may be what led Huckabee to say this, regarding Hagee and McCain, at last nights rally:
Huckabee said he was surprised by Hagee‚Äôs endorsement because of McCain‚Äôs lack of fervor on abortion — despite his 100% anti-abortion rights voting record. (McCain has, however, voted for stem-cell research.) Huckabee also said Hagee told him he endorsed because he assumed McCain would win the nomination.‚ÄúHe just thought that the political rationale was he wanted to get on Sen. McCain‚Äôs team, and he thought he was gonna win the nomination,‚Äù Huckabee said. ‚ÄúI don‚Äôt think that‚Äôs a foregone conclusion, and even if I did, I would stand on principle more than I would politics.‚Äù
Huckabee said he spoke with Hagee, expressed his “disappointment and surprise” and asked him to hold off on publicly backing McCain.
“I felt that it was totally out of character for what I knew he believed,” Huckabee said, “or at least I thought he did.”
It should be noted that Mike Huckabee should be careful for what he asks for. The Hagee endorsement seems to be causing a splinter effect within the religious sect of the GOP, Bill Donohue of the Catholic League has seemingly popped a blood vessel over this endorsement, mainly because he views the teachings of Hagee as crossing the line into the realm of hate speech. And his writings, particularly his denunciations of the Catholic Church as unacceptable and down right radicalism. Donohue pointed to instances in which Hagee has referred to the Catholic Church as, “The Great Whore,” an “apostate church,” the “anti-Christ,” and a “false cult system.” At one point during a statement Donahue was giving last night a incredibly rare even took place, that is, Bill Donahue stood up for Barack Obama, and actually called out the media on their differing treatment of the two situations:
Is Tim Russert going to repeat any of that to McCain, in the same way he read out Farrakhan’s “gutter religion” line about Jews?“Senator Obama has repudiated the endorsement of Louis Farrakhan, another bigot,” Donohue wrote. “McCain should follow suit and retract his embrace of Hagee.”
You know this is a historical race when you have far right religious figures fighting amongst themselves, Bill Donahue sticking up for what looks to be the Democratic nominee, and a weight losing, ex governor from Arkansas complaining the whole time because he isn’t involved in what is turning out to look like the religious crusades that took place in mid-evil times. All joking aside though, I do think it will be very telling as to the future of this race too see whether or not the same media outlets that pressured Barack Obama so hard about Louis Farrakhan’s uninvited endorsement, will now ask John McCain to denounce and reject the support of John Hagee, which McCain, unlike Obama, actually sought and publicly accepted.
Republican Attempt To Smear Obama Backfires Bigtime *VIDEO*
February 29, 2008
Watch as MSNBC host Dan Abrams makes an absolute fool out of Sen. Jack Kingston of Georgia who declared last Friday, when appearing on Bill Maher’s program, that Barack Obama was not “patriotic” because he didn’t wear an American Flag lapel pin. Good lord there has been some great videos coming out the past couple of days, and like a couple others over the past week, I have to give this one a a perfect 5 out of 5 as well.
John McCain’s New Hit Single: "Bomb Iran"

This is yet another brilliant Robert Greenwald video which let everyone see firsthand (with a little help from our composers) that the senator embraces war in a dangerous and irresponsible manner.
Former Sen.Rick Santorum Sounding Suicidal Over the Pres. Race
February 29, 2008

In quite an ‘over the top‘ Op-ed piece piece, former Republican Senator Rick “man on dog” Santorum came across as borderline suicidal at the thought of a Barack Obama Presidency. This is to be taken with a grain of salt of course, I mean Santorum is the same person who gained fame through his well documented 18th century view of the world and the people living in it. This is the same man who upon losing his Senate seat to Bob Casey Jr. in 2006 was so upset, that he decided that he would in fact keep his 9 offices up and running on the tax payer’s dime, but was no longer interested in providing constituent services for those tax-payer’s, or even responding to requests or inquiries sent to his office, or should I say offices (thanks to those trusty tax dollars). Instead any one who tried contacting him via phone or email would either get a voice mail response, or auto generated email, both of which stating the same message:
Thank you for contacting me. As always, I appreciate hearing from you.
As you may know, the United States Senate is currently in a period of
transition. Accordingly, your concerns may be better met by contacting
your new Senator, Bob Casey, Jr. You may call the Capitol Switchboard for
Senator Casey’s contact information at 202-224-3121. I also recommend
that you contact Senator Arlen Specter or your Representative in the
House.Thank you again for contacting me.
Sincerely,
Rick Santorum United States Senate
This message began around a week after the early November election, but remember that Santorum was still in office and remain a U.S. Senator who was receiving a taxpayer-funded salary to represent the people of Pennsylvania until January 3rd in the form of a check. That being said, I think we can continue on with Santorum’s op-ed piece now that we are all on the same page regarding what type of person this guys is. Santorum shows just how witty he really is through the crafty opening of his article, twists, and turns, I was was on the edge of my seat in anticipation. Well here, see for yourselves:
American voters will choose between two candidates this election year. One inspires hope for a brighter, better tomorrow. His rhetoric makes us feel we are, indeed, one nation indivisible - indivisible by ideology or religion, indivisible by race or creed. It is rhetoric of hope and change and possibility. It’s inspiring. This candidate can make you just plain feel good to be American. The other candidate, by contrast, is one of the Senate’s fiercest partisans. This senator reflexively sides with the party’s extreme wing. There’s no record of working with the other side of the aisle. None. It’s basically been my way or the highway, combined with a sanctimoniousness that breeds contempt among those on the other side of any issue.
Which of these two candidates should be our next president? The choice is clear, right? Wrong, because they’re both the same man - Barack Obama!
WOW, they were the same person the entire time. This guy is a literary genius, I did not see that whopper coming, he blindsided with with his superior penmanship. Joking aside, I find it incredibly ironic that Santorum has the audacity to call anyone on their partisanship. During his time in the U.S. Senate Rick Santorum received a 0% rating from the American Public Health Association based on his close to 98% voting record supporting George W. Bush, only to break from the president when Santorum felt he was “being to liberal“. Back to the op-ed, I am really sorry, I just loathe Santorum so deeply that I can’t help myself sometimes. Continuing his piece Santorum uses the usual attack lines on Obama, “he’s too liberal“, “supports abortion“, et cetera, et cetera. You get it, the same generic arguments that have been used for the past 20 years. It is in his conclusion where Santorum decides to make his final stand:
Justifying the killing of newborn babies is deeply troubling, but just as striking is his rigid adherence to doctrinaire liberalism. Apparently, the “audacity of hope” is limited only to those babies born at full term and beyond. Worse, given his support for late-term partial-birth abortions that supporters argued were necessary to end the life of genetically imperfect children, it may be more accurate to say the audacity of hope applies only to those babies born healthy at full term.
Obama’s supporters say his rhetoric makes them believe again.
Is this the kind of change and leader you believe in?
Ya Rick, that is exactly the change that the millions upon millions of people who have voted and donated to Sen. Barack Obama seek. This is such a pathetic example of a political attack that for the first time in my life I would have to say that I finally found the person who actually succeeds in making Rush Limbaugh look halfway competent. That person is none other then the man who lost his 2006 re-election bid by a larger margin then any other Pennsylvania incumbent in the history of the state, yes I am referring to Rick Santorum.
Huckabee Can’t Win the Nomination So He Decides To Attack…Obama?
February 29, 2008

Earlier today in a rather surprising twist, Mike “I am refusing to drop from a race I can’t win” Huckabee decided to by-pass arguing why he was better then his current opponent, Sen. John McCain, instead opting too attack Barack Obama. The former Arkansas governor has become all but a irrelevant “hanger on” in the GOP presidential primary, however this would not stop the devout “god-man“. Huckabee decided to go fiscal, and went after the Senator from Illinois, Barack Obama, for ideas he says would cost Americans $287 billion.
‚ÄúI hear Barack Obama say that he’s going to provide everybody with health care and college tuition and pave the streets with gold,‚Äù Huckabee said to laughter from the crowd, ‚Äúthe proposals he’s put on the table so far, already are going to cost about $287 billion dollars, so far. Now that’s a lot of money.‚Äù
And then in true “Huckster form”, you know the witty, lovable, ex-obese, Arkansan we have all come to love tossed in his two cents on the current situation in Iraq:
‚ÄúWhat we don’t know how to figure out is how much will it cost us when we walk away and leave Iraq in a mess and the Middle East blows up, how much will that cost?‚Äù added Huckabee.
One theory into why Huckabee is publicly attacking the Democrat front runner when he has virtually no chance of receiving his parties nomination is because he saw what McCain did yesterday, in attacking Obama’s comment on Al Queda in Iraq, which subsequently drew a response from the Illinois Democrat. Basically I am saying that Huckabee is just hoping, scratch that, praying, that Obama will respond to him so that he will be back in the news cycle, because as of right now he has become quite irrelevant to the race.
More importantly, Huckabee who appears to have transformed into a fiscal debutant of sorts, would really be helpful in explaining the benefits the United States is receiving from the $497,992,761,374 we have spent on the war and occupation of Iraq. Clearly he would had have an answer, I mean he is the same guy who claimed he would amend the United States Constitution to meet “Gods Standards“, that in itself shows this guy has a firm grasp on the political system. I’m joking, I really think the guy should stop wasting his donors money, running a race he has no chance of winning, and save some face, drop out, and go back to whatever it is that he came from.
Traditional Journalism "Out of Touch", People Prefer the Internet
February 29, 2008

Zogby- A new Zogby Interactive poll shows that a two thirds of Americans - 67% - believe traditional journalism is out of touch with what Americans want from their news. The Zogby report also found that while most Americans (70%) think journalism is important to the quality of life in their communities, two thirds (64%) are dissatisfied with the quality of journalism in their communities. Meanwhile, the online survey documented the shift away from traditional sources of news, such as newspapers and TV, to the Internet - most dramatically among so-called digital natives - people under 30 years old.
Nearly half of respondents (48%) said their primary source of news and information is the Internet, an increase from 40% who said the same a year ago. Younger adults were most likely to name the Internet as their top source - 55% of those age 18 to 29 say they get most of their news and information online, compared to 35% of those age 65 and older. These oldest adults are the only age group to favor a primary news source other than the Internet, with 38% of these seniors who said they get most of their news from television.
The survey finds the Internet not only outweighs television, radio, and newspapers as the most frequently used and important source for news and information, but Web sites were also cited as more trustworthy than more traditional media sources - nearly a third (32%) said Internet sites are their most trusted source for news and information, followed by newspapers (22%), television (21%) and radio (15%).
Some other interesting findings from the survey include:
- Both traditional and new media are viewed as important for the future of journalism - 87% believe professional journalism has a vital role to play in journalism’s future, although citizen journalism (77%) and blogging (59%) are also seen as significant by most Americans.
- Three in four (75%) believe the Internet has had a positive impact on the overall quality of journalism.
This article comes courtesy of Zogby International. And really shows just how important online is becoming in the overall fabric of the American News cycle, and if the trend continues, as they expect it too, it looks as though the Internet’s significance will only increase in the years ahead.
Lou Dobbs Ain’t Scared: "Talk to my Face, Not to my Back, Partner"
February 28, 2008
On Tuesday, Lou Dobbs challenged Lloyd Blankfein, the CEO of Goldman Sachs, to a fight while on the air. After discussing a new Economy.com report that 8.8 million American homeowners are now “underwater,” Dobbs took offense at Blankfein’s dismissal of his earlier claim that the economy was tanking.
