Advertising That Reflects The New Democrat Narrative
January 23, 2008
I was sitting in front of the television last night when I had an epiphany, like a bolt a lighting hitting a power line the idea hit me in the form of a reflective ad campaign for the for the “new Democratic Party”. You see with so much attention being focused on race, gender, religion and a plethora of other factors that really have nothing to do with policy ideas or a candidates stance on a certain issue this new and “hip” advertisement would be a perfect fit to go along with the narrative currently being played out in the Democratic primary. This advertisement would be restricted to the New York area only but hey, New York is a key state electoral college wise, so the effort would be well worth it. I mean if race, gender, fairy tales, Reagan comparison, baseless attacks, and hidden prejudices are what the Democrats want to focus on, and by the way the candidates are acting lately they clearly do, then this style of advertisement is can’t miss. So what if it offends some people, we are the Democrat Party right. Its the Republicans who pimp the race and religion card not us. Give me a break. Lately it is the Democrat’s who have, disgustingly might I add, exploited common American prejudices and this advertisement idea would fit the narrative they have chose to a tee.
If the Democrats want to continue to play on the inanimate issues such as race, gender, and religion then so be it. But let’s stop hiding what we are doing and at least be honest about it. We are in the process of making our bed, and if we continue doing what we are doing we better be ready to sleep in it. And I know that I do not want to ever have to feel the way I did in 2004 listening to John Kerry’s concession speech, and I fear that if we do not re focus regardless of who our nominee ends up being, that we will travel the same path that led us to that dark day in November of 2004.
