Obama Holding Strongest Campus Backing…
December 14, 2007

Politico.com is reporting that not all young people are created equal and a new study has found that can affect which candidate they back for the Democratic nomination. Obama is leaps and bounds ahead of his competition among the nations college students, however trails Hillary the less educated and lower wealth ranking students.
Obama leads Clinton 43% to 23% among current college students polled, however surprisingly Hillary leads Obama 38% to 31% among college aged kids who never enrolled in College what so ever.
Obama also leads Clinton among college graduates in the Institute of Politics at Harvard survey released Dec. 5, and he leads overall, 38%-33%, based on the survey of 18-24 year olds conducted online in November.
This still shocks me for a multitude of different reasons, Obama’s advantage on campus is especially pronounced in the early primary states that matter most. At Iowa State University a Nov. 26 poll found Obama trouncing Clinton 58%-14% as the first choice among Democratic respondents.
Since college students are more likely to vote than their peers who do not attend college, Obama may have quite a weapon at his disposal. But, with the Iowa caucuses and New Hampshire primaries being held while most colleges are on winter break, student turnout may be depressed. Pollsters and political scientists are not sure why Obama appeals to more educated young people.
I’ll tell you why they like, the same reason I like him, he is younger and clearly much more in touch with our generation opposed to Hillary. Well, at least that’s how I feel, he’s a normal guy, not pretending to be something he isn’t or attempting to force feed the younger (18-24) the usual political shtick they hear from every single other candidate. I’ll say it right now I am for Obama, I really am pulling for him. And from the looks of this article that seems to be the general consensus among the majority of my age group.
